Red Hat: Stick with Windows at home
Time: 10:40 EST/15:40 GMT | News Source: ZDNet | Posted By: Byron Hinson

Red Hat's chief executive has said that Linux needs to mature further before home users will get a positive experience from the operating system, saying they should choose Windows instead. Linux is seen by Microsoft as its most dangerous competitor for desktop operating systems, and after a number of high-profile cases where government departments have switched from Windows to Linux-based systems, the OS has been making some progress. However, Red Hat said that the hype around desktop Linux is still mostly unfounded at the moment.

Irregardless of whether it is true or not, I am very surprised that he has made such a public statement!

Many, like JWM, define themselves by complaining about Microsoft. They are defending themselves.

#2 - Irregardless?

So, does that mean full of regard?

Pha,

Your usage note notwithstanding, "irregardless" falls into the same category as "I could care less about...." That category is ignorance.

parker, you're dead right about Novell's track record in acquiring high profile companies then killing them. Perhaps that was the fault of Ray Noorda's insane hatred of Bill Gates. Perhaps under non-Ray management, the Ximian/Suse thing will work out. I'm not holding my breath, but it's possible.
