With IE10 in Windows 8, we reimagined the browser. We designed and built IE10 to be the best way to experience the Web on Windows. Consumers can now enjoy more touch-friendly and beautiful, fast and fluid Web applications with the updated IE10 engine included in the Windows Consumer Preview. This fifth Platform Preview of IE10 delivers improved performance and support for more HTML5.

Using the lower left hand corner to switch from the Desktop to the Metro screen is jarring. I suspect that the inconsistency between the two UI's will turn more people off, at least at first, than Vista's then-new interface did. If MS has the interfaces baked in, then Windows 8 will be little more than a novelty on the desktop and a minor player in the tablet arena. I like IE 10's spell checker.

I used it yesterday and I did not like it. It was confusing. Definitely I can see this stuff being disabled in a business environment.

I downloaded and burned the Windows 8 iso, installed it from the Windows 7 desktop as an upgrade (may not be the best way). It took about 45 minutes to upgrade. I found it to be just terrible. After a few minutes of trying to use it, I restored the hard drive with a hard drive image. The system would not boot. I then had to use the Windows 7 DVD and perform a Startup repair. For some reason, Windows 8 Consumer Preview corrupted the MBR, even to the point that a hard drive image could not overcome. Very strange indeed.

I had an extra laptop with Windows 7 on it, nothing else. I tried to do the "upgrade", I kept getting an unknown failure error after I entered the key. So I did the full install after booting from the DVD, and it worked fine.
