Windows 8 Release Preview: Microsoft FAQ
Time: 18:15 EST/23:15 GMT | News Source: ActiveWin.com | Posted By: Robert Stein

Windows 8 Release Preview is a prerelease version of Windows 8 that focuses on people and apps and gives you powerful new ways to use social technologies to connect with the people who are important to you. It's Windows reimagined. Windows 8 Release Preview is built on the rock-solid foundation of Windows 7 and has the security and reliability features you expect from Windows, but we’ve made it even better. It’s fast, and it’s made to work on a variety of form factors—especially the new generation of touch devices.

I very much dislike having to use my Microsoft "Live" account to log in to Windows 8. Having had the account hijacked in the past leads me to wonder how inaccessible my Windows 8 installation would be should the account be hijacked again. MS is making a mistake forcing this "security" onto users. One should best be able to use their user name of choice when the final product is released.

There is no system imaging built in to Windows 8. "File History" replaced "Backup and Restore". Why? I set up system images for all of my customers on Windows 7. Dropping this superb feature is foolish and has me looking forward installing Windows 7 for years to come.

Bob,

This isn't forced - at leased on the last version. In user accounts you can specify whether to use a local account or live account

It is forced now. I attempted to create a new user to log in as I would prefer. The release preview Windows 8 requires a Microsoft account with email to create the account and to log in. This sucks.

LOL! Does MS have any toes left to shoot off when it comes to Windows 8 ?
