In it's infinate wisdom, Microsoft has posted details of how to change the volume
licensing product key on a Windows XP SP1-based computer. "Because of changes in
Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1), Microsoft says, "Windows XP-based computers that
use a leaked product key that is known to be available to the general public may
not be able to install SP1 or automatically obtain updates from the Windows Update
Web site." So, if when you install SP1, you get the message "the product key used
to install Windows is invalid", you can follow the instructions Microsoft has posted
here.

That "here" link is a tad bit broken, Byron.

This article is big nrews all over the web, but I don't see what the big deal as you still need an "approved" product key before the SP1 can be installed. And most of the KeyGen's I have seen were not made for SP1 keys are those prior. I am just glad I went out a bought a coy for my comp and I don't have to worry about circumventing this.

Maybe it was wrong on the Inquirer site earlier, and they have since corrected it?
