Experts: Microsoft Should Issue Windows XP Fix
Time: 11:30 EST/16:30 GMT | News Source: Newsday | Posted By: Brian Kvalheim

Are the bad guys phishing while Microsoft's out to lunch? Despite the discovery last month of an Internet Explorer bug that expedites Web site spoofing, or phishing, security experts wonder why Microsoft still hasn't issued a fix. The browser is so deeply entwined with the Windows XP operating system that the company doesn't want to risk creating more problems than it solves. "Microsoft will only release a patch, when warranted, that is well-engineered and as thoroughly tested as possible, whether that is a day, week, month or longer," a company spokeswoman said.

This IE bug is avoided by right-clicking on a link and selecting "Open in new Window" from the drop-down menu.

Do that until an official fix is available.

Apparently, I'm the only one who noticed that was a workaround as MS hasn't even mentioned it and nobody else has either.

...you mean the way you bash a system you know nothing about, parker, when the issues are entirely avoidable, even unlikely to be possible based on normal and even advanced configs(the 10.2 security flaws)?

simply UNACCEPTABLE!!

hypocrite!

I agree. Microsoft should issue a fix when they have one that works and has been thoroughly tested.

But this issue has been overblown in it's importance.
