Microsoft has three options in the Comcast-Disney takeover fight: play the savior, the banker or stay on the sidelines. Disney Chief Executive Michael Eisner has shown no sign that he intends to relinquish control to Comcast after the cable giant's unsolicited $54 billion bid for Disney on Wednesday. Comcast's offer, which Disney's board has said it will consider, sets the stage for what might become a fierce battle over control of the entertainment company.

The reporter at the Seattle PI ends by quoting an analyst that "Microsoft's best option may be to stay on the sidelines. I don't think MS is focused on content providing.

HOWEVER...The kicker in ANY discussion involving Disney is the special legal status of the Disneyworld property here in Florida. The "Woody Creek" tract is about as close to a privately run government as you can get...Disney is basically it's own local government, runs it's own police force,levies it's own taxes, etc...
