Participants at the PDC will remember that we talked a lot about the Longhorn user experience. An important part of that experience is formed by the performance and responsiveness of the system. Today, I'd like to talk a little bit about the challenge of defining what the Longhorn experience means with respect to performance, especially Avalon performance. In short: How fast does Avalon need to be?

Kinda thin. I mean, to quote #1, who would choose a slow facet of anything?

The more relevent question would be:

When prioritizing Avalon processes, what is more important to render faster than other processes?

This article seems to get into the actual timings which is largely subjective and scales to the computer the OS is being run on.
