What's in a name? Well, if you're Microsoft that's exactly the question you want answered by a jury in reference to the term "windows." The question is central to Microsoft's argument that the name "Lindows" is too much like Windows, the Microsoft operating system. The only problem is that Microsoft wants the jury to decide if "windows" is a generic term today, not before the Windows operating system was released in November 1985. Unfortunately for Microsoft, District Court Judge Coughenour chose the latter in a ruling on February 10th. |
