You've seen the warnings from analysts (heck, even I've chimed in on the subject). You've read about your peers inadvertently downloading Trojans, viruses, worms, and other malware. You've read about the numerous security vulnerabilities, many of which have set to be patched. You've heard about the competing products that offers better performance, more features, and better security. And you've heard how this product is a major part of the fixes in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), which will ship in a few weeks, but not help the hundreds of millions of Windows users that aren't yet using XP.

Seems like Paul has been bashing Microsoft on the Internet Explorer security issue mericlessly lately...

I think Paul has been burned a few times opposite some bad inside scuttle-butt and is settling a bit of a score here....<just one opinion>.
With 3.7 percet of nearly 500 companies that are part of the W3C, actually conforming to their own unoffical "Recommendations" - we'll all gack if we see one post about "Standards."
I agree with #2, totally.
I see some real contradictions that are just too tough to deal with all the time...they go like this...."Get the latest alternative here [stress on the latest part], and at same time...say, but one would have to upgrade Windows???" Makes no sense to me - and yeah "Well alt x or y or z is a free this or that..." So! It is not news now, or news previously that commercial software isn't free - and commercial.....because....It is worth it. Free things generally are free for a reason - in a free market it is because they have no commercial viability.

Personally I prefer "pragmatic" over "Microsoft Buddy." As opposed to dogmatic - held out as
sulphitic.

I find Opera and Firebox slower than IE, substantially.

"I find Opera and Firebox slower than IE, substantially. "
I find that astonishing...
I know nothing of Opera, but I could never in a million years call IE faster than FireFox.
