Time: 08:43 EST/13:43 GMT | News Source: Associated Press | Posted By: Alex Harris

Microsoft Corp. opened a technical support center for central and eastern Europe on Tuesday. The center, set to employ more than 50 people by July, will assist corporate customers in the region and western Europe. "The opportunities in the local market and the confidence in the internationally recognized knowledge of Hungarian professionals were decisive factors in Microsoft's decision to set up the center in Budapest," said Microsoft Hungary CEO Peter Vityi.

"Our aim is to turn Budapest into a knowledge center of international standing," said Budapest Mayor Gabor Demszky. The Budapest-based center will provide assistance related to a range of Microsoft products, including Windows, Exchange, SQL, ISA, Biztalk as well as various Microsoft development applications.
