That's the promise of Atom Chip Corporation for the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) held in Las Vegas in January 2006. The computer should demonstrate how Quantum and Quantum-optical devices could operate in consumer electronics. Without proper benchmarking, it is hard to tell if the "AtomChip" 6.8Ghz CPU is faster than current high-end competitors are. However, the solid-state drive that replaces the traditional hard disk should be orders of magnitude faster. If AtomChip can pull this off, it would be *huge*. More images after the jump.

If the estimated retail price is correct, though, the RAM would definitely be a steal--$6000 for 1 TB. Now, how about that OS support? :)
Actually, it looks like there may be a separate processor product, but it's hard to tell from their site, and it seems more than coincidence that 1.7x4=6.8.

It is as a hoax as the alien autopsy...
They use RCA jacks to convey 6 GB/S data!!! This is as funny as it goes!
How do you post this news in this otherwise serious site?
