Maybe I'm just a loser (yes, I know I just burned myself), but I don't think I even know 600 people, let alone talk to them.

You all must not use IM that much at work. I must have 200 professional chat contacts. Maybe 25 personal. Not bragging, just saying.

You're right - most of my time is taken up by work! The only IM we can use is Reuter's Messenger which is far behind the latest version of MSN Messenger. Even if it wasn't I cannot imagine how much of a hassle it would be to scroll through a list of 600 emails or "cool nicks" to find the person I'm after. Who asked for this feature?

Of course there will be people that say 600 isn't enough :-(

Hmm, why would they increase it to 600?
Because AOL is about to increase AIM's to 500:

[Ok, ActiveWin, this popup stuff is rediculous. I use XP SP2's popup blocker, and I just went to one page and it was non-stop trying to launch popups.... on and on and on. Hey--at least none of them got through the blocker :) After, of course, disabling "HTML Document" in Manage Add-ons--a way that people use to get around the popup blocker.]

kabuki, perhaps unlike your reuters messenger... msn messenger allows you to group contacts into groups. that helps considerably.

#8 No amount of groups would make it easy to sort through 600 contacts - unless you have a tree structure of groups of groups. In any case, I don't have anything close to 600 contacts so i don't need to worry.
As for Reuter's messenger - I'd like a more featured IM at work but as I mentioned we can only use Reuter's as it's secured down and logged.
