With Windows Vista, it’s a must to have good fast memory installed in your PC. The best memory costs a lot of money, especially once you reach above 1GB sticks. In this short piece about Memory performance under Windows Vista we are testing out numerous sticks against both the Windows Experience Rating as well as the amount of Physical Memory you have on boot. We also state what difference it makes in the feel of speed from the operating system.

This is a good review - thanks for running it. Did you do any testing with Intel based systems?
We've seen about every issue one may imagine this year - so many changes across so many different areas from CPU's to mainboard rev's. ASUS's Digital Home MB for example - revs moving from 13.xx to 18.xx in one year - help illustrate what I mean. Even this week our guys fought with different controls across many designs - some which communicate more effectively with cooling systems, etc... than others - and some not at all - where Q-Fan controls can mean the difference between a great system and one that is pure junk, no matter how solid the components are. This is to be expected, of course, when there is so much that is new in so many areas. RAM was no different - with QVL lists exploding as the types of compatible RAM moved with the many changes elsewhere across the achitecture. Being limited to intel based systems where the variety of chipsets are fewer, I can't imagine how wild the ride is for those working with AMD's diversity.
*Have you tried Vista's integrated memory tesitng tools?

I use Crucial memory, and like it, but I will not use their Ballistix any more.
I've had 3 sets fail, right after doing something memory intensive such as rendering DVD's, ripping, etc...
The last time they failed I just had them send me standard .16T 1GB modules and it's been fine sense.
There have been a lot of threads on this issue over at HardOCP, so I wasn't the only one.

#1 - Intel haven't ever provided us with anything to review, so unless someone here buys an intel based machine or builds one we can't cover their stuff. Very annoying.

#2 - got to say that over the years I haven't had any problems with Crucial memory, from Ballistix to tracer to even their basic memory. Had others fail from companies though, quite quickly a lot of them.
