the day i see the music industry pushed around, is the day I eat my keyboard.
contrary to mythology, steve jobs hasnt pushed them around on the price either. the music industry is quite adept, and talented marketers. You don't agree? Well, how else can someone extract $16 from customers, for a flimsy, scratch-prone set of 10 songs (8 of which you care nothing about). And they managed to do this for the better part of 15 years. That takes TALENT.
Reminds me of the other article on AW today, about how the iphone costs <$300 to make. Well, apply that same logic to a CD. What does a CD cost to make? A quarter?
For the record, I haven't bought a CD since 1997. And I'm 33 now. Oh, the sins of my youth...

I for one love the round format and buy shiny discs with some regularity. The iTunes stuff my kids download sounds like crap in almost any decent music player, iPods notwithstanding.
This is one time I really agree with Mr William Henry Gates III. Buy CDs legally and rip into a lossless format. Downloading low bit rate songs in my humble opinion is dumb and will seem even more so in years to come.

I prefer CD too. I do have an Urge subscription though. It's great for computer listening and investigating new music.
Jobs needs to hang tough though. Let them take their ball and go home. If Vivi/Uni wants to leave the service with 80 percent of the music business, let them do it. Then their shareholders can sue them for their stock price drops.
If just ONE of these jackels demands are allowed, it will cause a snowball effect and we are all screwed.
