Microsoft Revamps Download Center Using Silverlight
Time: 00:09 EST/05:09 GMT | News Source: PC World | Posted By: Kenneth van Surksum

Microsoft continues to eat its own dog food to promote the adoption of its Silverlight technology.

The company is beta-testing a new version of its Microsoft Download Center Web site using the technology, a browser plug-in and development runtime for adding multimedia and high-definition video to Web-based applications.

A visit to the Microsoft Download Center on Tuesday opened a page inviting users to test the new site, which Microsoft said is being enhanced by Silverlight.

"We're changing!" the invitation said. "Get a sneak peak at the new designs we're testing for the Download Center home page and category pages. We're using Microsoft Silverlight technology to spruce up the site and make it easier to discover and download Microsoft software."

PC World must not have been notified last year of MS's download Silverlight beta.

Kenneth - it may be old news but at least you've posted "news" when the other guys are working, we only see a few new articles but when you're on, we see lots of news!

I assume AW has some sort of roster system for its "staff"?? Monday's are Kenneths, Tuesday's are Jonathan's, Wednesday's are Michael's etc??

Bob - but at least PC World are only half as bad as Computerworld ... I'm waiting to see their article about how Microsoft are trying to put Adobe out of business with Silverlight etc etc and then see them touting Sun's JavaFX with no mention of how it also competes with Adobe's Flash AS WELL.
