Codename Excalibur: Windows 7 MCE or Fiji codename prequel?
Time: 04:57 EST/09:57 GMT | News Source: | Posted By: Kenneth van Surksum

Stephen Chapman: Alright, follow me on this one. Almost 2 years ago, I found and posted about a strange slide in a Dell powerpoint presentation yielding something to do with a Windows "Excalibur." The way it was presented in the slide, it appeared as though it was a tier above Aero Glass slated to come out in a completely separate release from Longhorn (see an image of this slide down below where it says, "Enter Excalibur:"). At the time I first ran across the powerpoint presentation, there was speculation running amok regarding "Aero Diamond," which was definitively put to rest thanks to a write-up by Long Zheng back in August of 2006. "Diamond" was the codename for Vista MCE. Now, what about codename "Slalom?" "Slalom" was the codename for the Longhorn release of MCE... so from the aforementioned, one might ascertain that with the evolution of Longhorn to Vista, "Slalom" evolved into "Diamond"... or did it?
