Microsoft plans to unveil the design of Internet Explorer 9 next week, but thanks to a new leak, we now have a pretty good idea of what the next generation of Microsoft's browser will look like. Currently, Microsoft only offers "developer preview" versions of the browser that do not feature the new user interface. The enterprising Internet Explorer 9 fans at IEBest.com, however, managed to get an early copy of the browser and captured the new interface on video.

Wow, a whole new paradigm for browsers. MS has really innovated this time. They put the status bar on the BOTTOM, and the controls at the TOP. And, get this, they've got scroll bars on the RIGHT side! The march of progress, folks, right before your very eyes.

What did you expect? People would scream if they moved it all around. Heck, it's Microsoft, they'll scream no matter what they do. (case in point)

@2,3: I don't know what I expected, but when some article talks about a new UI 'caught on video', that gives it the cachet of mystery, spectacle and something you need to see. When I see 'caught on video', it better be cool or naked, or both.

As far as I can tell all innovation in the software space is dead, unless you count "making it look prettier" or "making it safer" or "making it faster" or "making it crash-proof" or "making it easier to use" as innovation.
No wonder the self anointed cheerleader for innovation Mr. Gates himself is off tilting new windmills. Shucks even Steve Jobs looks bored these days.
Face it guys the computer just became boring. The future is in living systems! The next Gates/Allen/Jobs is Craig Venter and his ilk.

#4: Hmmm, MS creates/innovates a totally new UI for Office with the Ribbon and you don't like it, they slim down the UI fro IE and you don't like it.
I think we see the common element.

#6: I don't mind the ribbon; it's my wife that hates it. But then, I don't have to use any software that employs a ribbon interface. I use PowerArchiver but use the shell integration features a lot more often than launching the UI. As much as I crap on MS for things they deserve, I freely admit that the ribbon was an interface innovation they came up with (AFAIK, they may have stolen it. They do that kind of thing now and then.) Plus, I never said I liked or disliked the IE9 UI.
