Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) last month continued to shed users, losing the largest chunk of share since December 2010, Web measurement firm Net Applications reported Saturday. During September, IE lost nine-tenths of a percentage point of share to slip to 54.4%, a record low for the browser. I flat-out don't like it. I feel like I'm using a Kiddie Browser.

About 5% of the Vista/7 PC's we are servicing, that we install IE9 on, show web pages as all white even with hardware acceleration turned off. MS doesn't have a fix for this. We simply uninstall IE9, where IE8 runs fine, and hide the IE9 "update". Chrome and Firefox install and run fine on the same machines. Should the customer ask for a faster browser than IE8 we install Chrome. Chrome updates seamlessly, keeps Flash up to date, and so far has not caused any issues for us or our customers, unlike IE9 and Firefox 6 & 7. That's important.

TL: Talk about a kiddie browser, Metro IE10 couldn't be much dumber. You have mentioned on AW that you set your Developer Preview to bypass Metro and use the "conventional" Start menu. If you tested Metro IE10 you know what I mean. On notebook and desktop PC's MS may be readying the next Microsoft Bob in Metro. We'll have to wait to see how typical notebook and desktop users like it when Windows "next" goes gold.

I'm in total agreement about Metro :) I hacked it out of my Preview within 30 minutes.
