If you've ever searched for the Facebook app on a Windows Phone device, you've probably seen the masses of third-party Facebook clones pretending to be the official app. Well that stops today as Microsoft is beginning to issue takedown notices to third-party Facebook app developers.
Microsoft's latest Facebook beta for Windows Phone 8 rolled out last week and it's a much improved app that brings it up to par with its Android and iOS counterparts. Some app developers have already taken advantage of the newly released app by creating copy-cat apps. One goes as far to name itself "Facebook WP8 beta." It's no wonder Microsoft is issuing takedown notices, citing consumer confusion.
