Weird... when I enable the Shell Audio player, the name of the toolbar changes to "Zaxxon"... what does that mean?

you can rename the player to whaetever you want by going into
"options" then click on "change title"
why this is called zaxxon by default is beyond me.

Man this shell audio player is awesome. I am surprised nobody did this before. I like it even better than winamp now.

Now? Version 7.x and up has always been better than winamp. I didn't realize winamp was still around.

now only if they include the audio cd burning capabilities of easy cd creator or nero then we truly wouldn't have to buy that extra software.

I have a comment similar to #8 -- when I go and do the install, these two additional powertoys are not listed. I have redownloaded, made sure my cache/prefetch was empty of the powertoy files, but I still am not seeing it. Am I missing something?

After you install XP Powertoys just right click on the taskbar, go to Toolbars then click on Audio Player. To create a playlist, add tracks, etc. click on the triangle button pointing up(in the taskbar player).

I've installed this thing many times and I still don't have the option of an Audio Player under the right click Toolbars. When I do install it asks me if I'd like to replace a *.MSI file. Yes or No? I've tried both actually and it still hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

The reason it is asking you if you want to replace the MSI is because you are running setup over a previous installation of it. When it asks hit yes. Uninstall it(remove it) and re-install it using the standard installation(not a custom one). Thats what I did and it worked fine for me.

To install:
- First, uninstall any existing PowerToys for XP
To enable audio player:
- Right click on your Toolbar and go to Toolbars-> and then Zaxxon
To change settings or title of player
- Click on the little (^) button, then its self explanitory
Comments:
Why didn't they integrate this with WMP? Now I have to maintain two seperate playlists! Argh!
I really like the little semi-transparent window that pops up when you hover your mouse over the toolbar!
Well, the ISO burner is completely useless for me considering that XP only supports like 2 burners for its intergrated burning (which, of course, doesn't include my Plextor CDRW).
Has anyone had any problems with TimeShot BSOD'ing? I have a web cam and I ran TimeShot and I just get a BSOD every time I run it. WTF?

#7, you can already burn audio CD's, XP does via WMP8.

but can you change the seconds between songs? like in roxio 5.0 you can have a wait time of 2 seconds or whatever before it fades into the next song etc....i'm not sure if wmp8 will allow you to do all that. but if it does then that would be great.

The ISO Burning in the PowerToy is *LESS* then you get if you were to use the ISO PowerToy from Alex Feinman. With his you could right click on an ISO image and it would allow you to burn it to a CD. His also alowed you to "create" and ISO image from a CD. MS seems to have taken his, reduced its functionality, and then re-released it. I'll be going back to his version.

macrosslover - they gotta leave *something* for the 3rd party application vendors to provide. The built-in CD-burning is bare bones. Record data, record audio and now simple ISO functionality. If you want more control then you should purchase/use 3rd party software. MS has bundled a lot in which I think is good but I think they are smart to stop where they do.

The Audio Shell Player was in the Powertoys beta but never made the (initial) final release. It's good to see that it's now available as it was the toy that I was most looking forward to.

Zaxxon is an old arcade game, released by Sega in 1982. http://www.klov.com/Z/Zaxxon.html
Maybe it was a code name for the Shell Audio Player?
As for which burners are supported for integrated burning,
I find it hard to believe my Mitsumi would work and not your Plextor..

#16, no, MS was doing this before XP was even released... and I'm sure it's licensed from Roxio.

Actually, Feinman took the idea from Microsoft after seeing an alpha version of their ISO recorder. That's what I hear, anyway.

Ok, I got it to play MP3 and WMA files. It just won't play any .CDA files now. Is that normal?
