None other than Microsoft chief executive officer Steve Ballmer paid a personal visit to Munich city mayor Christian Ude at the end of last month to drum up support for the company's operating system software, which faces growing competition from open-source Linux, according to a report in the German newspaper SüddeutscheZeitung, citing people familiar with the situation.

And since Ballmer works for Microsoft, how is this not a normal scenario? How is it even news worthy? It is like reading a story about how the Pope was seen trying to persuade someone to stay in the Catholic church instead of joining some other denomination or religion. sheesh ...

I guess its normal for Balmer to cut his vacations short to travel to each and every city that is considering switching to Linux?

Maybe he was in the area at the time? Some people do vacation in Europe that live in the States. <g>
It is still, IMO, not worthy of being posted here or anywhere for that matter.

It is interesting that most visits from senior MS management cause those sitting on the fence to commit to using and building on MS technologies. Maybe it makes good business sense, but those zealots who are brainwashed just don't see it...
