SARA I think its Southern Street, just a short way from the Music Hall. (Louder Voice) Please hurry Cleo CLEO Are you supposed to be meeting up a Patrick’s house first? Cleo gives off a slight laugh CLEO I would have at least expected you to lock it INT. MUSIC HALL MAIN HALL The main music room is decked out with neatly arranged chairs. All of the lights in the hall are off making it very hard to see anything. Towards the back of the music hall is a set of stairs that lead up to an unused theater area of the music hall. CLEO Sara it’s me...time to go There is no reply... CLEO Come on Sara...i have loads of work to finish and I need to get back He moves a little way forward and taps his foot a couple of times against a nearby chair. CLEO Sara, I mean it. Cleo pauses for a moment and then starts to walk slowly back to the door, which he had just entered through. CLEO (Con’t) I’ll go then There is still no reply just silence. Cleo looks around as his expression changes to a more concerned look. Suddenly...there is a weak bang over towards the stairs. The stairs lead up to an unused theater on the next floor. CLEO Sara? Is that you? Cleo is alert as he walks past the chairs and to the foot of the stairs. He reaches the foot of the stairs. It is once again silent. Cleo leans forwards and glances up the stairs. CLEO (Agitated) Sara, This is fucking stupid. There is a slight sound of sobbing coming from somewhere up the stairs. Cleo looks up toward the top of the stairs CLEO (Shouting) Sara, I’m coming up Cleo carefully walks up the stairs to find out what and where the sobbing is coming from. INT. MUSIC HALL – UPSTAIRS UNUSED THEATER As Cleo reaches the top of the stairs he stands still and quiet for a short moment, listening out for any sound. Cleo can just make out some sobbing coming from the next room. He walks towards the room’s door, takes a deep breath and opens it. INT. MUSIC HALL – UPSTAIRS ROOM Sara is hanging from a ceiling fan with only a chair underneath supporting her. The chair is also stopping her from choking to death. CLEO (Stuttering) Sara, don’t worry I’ll get you down. Cleo takes a slow step forward towards Sara...suddenly... A dark FIGURE comes from the side...holding a knife in its right hand and heading straight towards Cleo’s chest. BLACKOUT! BEGIN MAIN TITLES FADE IN: EXT. MAINWAY DRIVE - DAY Mainway drive is just your average American road. There are very few people walking along the road as it’s quite early in the morning as people are getting ready for school. There is a postbox nearby with the wording “6 MAINWAY DRIVE” painted on it in some very neat writing. This is the house of the MARTIN family. INT. THE MARTIN HOUSE – KITCHEN In the house are three people all sitting around a dinner table in the kitchen. There are two members of the family sitting eating breakfast around the dinner table. At the head of the table is JACK MARTIN, a short bearded man, about 52 years old. He is reading the local daily newspaper. To the side of Jack is CYNTHIA MARTIN. Cynthia is also Jack and Theresa’s daughter. A young woman about 20 years old, She is serious and pretty looking. Packing away some plates into the cupboard is THERESA MARTIN. Around 50 years old, well spoken. Theresa turns away from the cupboard and looks at Cynthia. THERESA Is Joe’s still being refurbished? It seems to have been taking an age to get completed Cynthia stops eating and puts her spoon down onto the table. She looks over to her mother. CYNTHIA Yeah, it should be finished early next week...should. Unless you’ve forgotten, Steve got asked to do the job this time around. So it might get finished by this time next year. Theresa gives a slight smile and then gets on with packing away the plates. Jack meanwhile is scanning the newspaper, he turns over from the sport to the front-page. His face screws up in disgust as he looks at the papers headline. JACK Jesus Christ The headline reads “2 MURDERED IN MUSIC HALL” Theresa turns around and looks at Jack in a very uneasy way. Cynthia meanwhile has started to eat her breakfast again. THERESA Jack...please don’t curse in this house Jack puts down the newspaper and looks up at Theresa. JACK It’s Sara and Cleo Theresa looks at Jack completely puzzled. THERESA I guess you mean Joe’s two kids? JACK Yes. The newspaper says that they have been found murdered in the music hall in town Cynthia coughs while swallowing some of her breakfast, she puts her spoon onto the table and looks towards Jack. CYNTHIA What? You’re kidding right JACK It says it right here Jack proceeds to show the newspaper story to both Cynthia and Theresa. CYNTHIA (Sarcastic) Gees, that’s awful news Jack looks over at Cynthia. His face is full of scorn. JACK Have some respect Cynthia gets up from the table and walks over to the sink to put her breakfast plate away. THERESA Do the police have any leads? JACK The paper mentions something about a note left at the scene, nothing that is likely to help them though Cynthia leans against the sink. CYNTHIA Any mention of what it said? Jack checks back in the newspaper. JACK “Number 1 and Number 2” EXT. MAINWAY DRIVE Walking down from the far end of the road towards the Martins house is a young woman, JENNA LEEVES, 21 years old. She is the loud girl around the town, lots of attitude, good looking and although never trying to show it, pretty damn smart too. Alongside Jenna is her boyfriend, MARCUS BUCKLAND, hardworking and “sweet”, he also about 20 years old. Marcus is talking to Jenna as they walk down the road. MARCUS Are you going to be doing any searching for a new job in town today with Cynthia? JENNA (Sarcastic) What do you think? Marcus shows some slight anger towards Jenna for not taking him seriously. MARCUS Come off it Jenna. How long has it been since you finished at the store? JENNA Who’s counting? It’s my life, I like being a lazy bitch Perhaps you should try it sometime Marcus smiles as he tries a joke. MARCUS (Joking) Being a lazy bitch? Jenna rolls her eyes as she answers him. JENNA I’m sure I have a skirt to fit Marcus goes back into his serious mode and the smiles vanish. MARCUS No really, how long has it been. If your still expecting us to get a flat together you need to get some work on the go. I can’t keep on supporting us both on my salary. JENNA I know, I know Jenna takes a slight pause before continuing. JENNA (Con’t) There might be an opening at Joe’s once it re-opens next week...well that’s what Cynthia said anyway The two of them both stop outside the Martins house. MARCUS Do you think it will come through though? It’s not the first time she’s said that to you Jenna rolls her eyes at him again. JENNA Well if she gets it wrong this time...you can deal with her Jenna giggles at her own remark. JENNA (Con’t) I’m pretty sure they’ll be an opening there soon. It’s had a major move round...and it looks as if they’ll need more staff Marcus starts to walk slowly down the road while Jenna gets ready to call at Cynthia’s, he keeps talking to Jenna while walking. MARCUS Ok I’ll talk to you tonight when I get back from work Jenna leans against the Martin’s fence and pouts suggestively at Marcus. JENNA Ciao loverboy INT. THE MARTIN HOUSE – KITCHEN Back in the Martins house, Theresa has finished packing away the plates and is now also sitting at the dinner table with Cynthia and John. They are discussing Cleo and Sara’s demise. THERESA Didn’t you and Jenna go to college with those two? Cynthia makes out that she is thinking really hard to get the answer. CYNTHIA We were all in the same class together, Jenna, Marcus all of us THERESA Were they good friends of yours? You never mentioned them before now While Theresa and Cynthia are talking there is a knock at the door. Jack goes to see who it is. CYNTHIA The whole class was “friends” We all got along with each other...It’s not like I knew them all that well though...least not outside of college Cynthia leans over the table and picks up an apple and starts to bite. CYNTHIA (Con’t) They were more the upper class types...we never really got on all that well with them. Cleo was a computer wizard and Sara was more interested in make up than talking and being with any of us Jack walks back into the kitchen with Jenna. JENNA (Joking Tone) Woah feels like a morgue in here Cynthia laughs but Theresa get slightly angry look on her face. THERESA Is there any need for jokes like that, when two of your former classmates were murdered last night, here in town? Jenna glances at Theresa with puzzled look on her face, she hasn’t heard the news about Cleo and Sara JENNA Huh? Who Jack decides to butt in and answer for his wife JACK Cleo and Sara Myers Joe’s two kids Jenna turns to Cynthia and smiles. JENNA Hey, there is even more of a chance for an opening at Joe’s store Cynthia covers her mouth laughing Theresa walks into the next room without saying anything, she is angry at the way Jenna is making a joke out of the Sara and Cleo’s death Jack gets up from the table and pushes his chair in. JACK I guess I better get to work Cynthia makes a sweet, crafty face at her father. CYNTHIA (Whining voice) Daddy, think you can drop us off at Traci’s? Jack sighs and walks to pick up his coat. He picks it up, puts it on and walks towards the door. Jack smiles at both Jenna and Cynthia. JACK Are you coming then? CYNTHIA Dad, your ace Cynthia walks up to her father and kisses him on the cheek. Jenna shakes her head, grabs hold of Cynthia’s arm and walks her out of the front door EXT. TRACI’S FLAT Jack’s car pulls up outside of TRACI LEE’S flat. The outside of the flat is quite beaten and the garden is almost non existent. Jenna gets out of the car first - Cynthia follows close behind. Jack winds down the side window of the car and pokes his head out. JACK Are you going to be back home in time for the dinner with your aunt tonight? Cynthia gives out a rather loud sigh. CYNTHIA I doubt it, I’m supposed to be going out with Jenna tonight Cynthia starts to walk away from the car, Jenna follows along side her and waves back at Jack. JENNA Bye Mr. Martin Jack does a rather timid wave back at Jenna. JACK Just make sure you phone your mum to let her know what’s happening, she’ll be worried after what happened in this town last night. Jenna and Cynthia continue up the path towards Traci’s front door CYNTHIA Sure dad, I’ll phone later tonight Jack starts up the engine and proceeds to pull out and then drive off down the road JENNA (Bubbly, sarcastic voice) Wow, can I come and visit your aunt tonight Cynthia turns and scowls at Jenna CYNTHIA You’ve got to be kidding me, she’s a complete nightmare Jenna looks at Cynthia, her eyes are almost popping out. JENNA Err, you know I’m joking? I’m the girl who actually has some sort of life Cynthia and Jenna reach Traci’s front door CYNTHIA (Sarcastic) Really? JENNA So what happened with Cleo and Sara last night? Cynthia shrugs her shoulders. CYNTHIA I’m not too sure, I only got a quick glance at the newspaper when dad told me about it Jenna is vying for more information. JENNA Well what did it say? CYNTHIA It just said that they were both found murdered at the music hall in town. There was no reason given and no one has been caught. JENNA Hey, I’m not sure anyone needs a reason to kill Sara, its just something anyone and everyone would want to do when they meet her. CYNTHIA I haven’t a clue why someone would go after Cleo though, he was no where near as bad as Sara was a college. Jenna knocks on Traci’s door. CYNTHIA (Con’t) But despite what I told my mom, they were never high on my Christmas card list JENNA (Attempting a posh voice) A little bit too upper class for you then my dear? CYNTHIA Sara was always a stuck up shit...you have to admit...there are a whole lot of people that could have wanted her dead. JENNA (Joking) So you hatched a plan to kill them both in the music hall, brilliant CYNTHIA If only I had it in me Jenna this time rings the doorbell. There is still no answer. JENNA Are you sure she’s in? Cynthia shrugs her shoulders again. JENNA (Con’t) She mentioned something about going up to the hill today. She and Jimmy were going to setup a tent to view the stars tonight or something Cynthia makes a bemused look at Jenna CYNTHIA Jimmy? How come JENNA Yeah he asked. CYNTHIA But Jimmy, he was never good at science at college so why the sudden interest in astrology? JENNA Well stargazing might be all he’s good at, so she said he could come. Although the sudden interest could be based around Traci CYNTHIA He’s a pervert. He’ll probably be spying on some girl’s bedroom with the telescope JENNA Awwwww come on Cynthia, he’s not that bad. I think Traci’s actually starting to like him Jenna bangs hard on the door this time – just to make sure that if anyone is inside, they will hear. They wait for a few more seconds – but there is no sign of her. JENNA Why don’t we shimmy into town, get some food, check out what Traci and Dirty Jim are doing up the hill and then head over to my place Cynthia sighs and nods her head in agreement. CYNTHIA Sure. Do you have any good movies we could watch until Rob and Markus pick us up tonight? JENNA (Giggles) Porno and horror from my brother’s room, or Romantic love stories from mum and dad’s room. You pick. CYNTHIA (Joking) Porno films it is then They both head back down the pathway – and then walk up the street towards the town. They continue talking to each other along the way EXT. DEVILS HILL Sittings up on top of the hill are four people. None of them are any older than twenty years old. TRACI LEE, a dominant mystical type of person into astrology who is wearing some beat up jeans and tie-dyed top. She is sitting on the grass smoking a cigarette. Beside her is a packet of Cigarettes. JIMMY NEVE is lying next to Traci. He is a rather strange lazy looking person, someone you would never expect to be on time. He also looks quite untidy. ROSE KRUGER is the youngest of the four on the hill. She has a friendly, innocent looking face. In her right hand is a mobile phone. JOHNNY CARTER is Rose’s boyfriend and is 20 years old. He is smoking a cigarette. Traci takes a drag of her cigarette and looks over at the rest of the group. TRACI Should be a good night JIMMY Are we talking in terms of sex or stars? Traci laughs at Jimmy’s perverse mind. TRACI Stars you dipshit Jimmy starts to think about something, then he frowns. JIMMY It looks as though while everyone is out having a good time tonight, including these two. Jimmy looks over at Rose and Johnny. JIMMY (Con’t) I’m going to be stuck here with you watching a whole load of dots in the sky that I can see any night of the week. Traci seems to be taken aback at what Jimmy has said. TRACI I never asked you to come...you asked me. If you want...you can just meet me back here at about midnight JIMMY Are you sure? TRACI Sure, it will give me some time to myself out here JIMMY You know you can come to the party if you want? Traci leans back on the grass and stretches out. TRACI Wow you’re allowing me to come to her party Jimmy sighs and closes his eyes. JIMMY You know what I mean Jimmy opens his eyes again and awaits Traci’s reply. TRACI I’d rather die than go to one of Julie’s parties Rose finally speaks and tries to break up the impending argument. She looks over to Traci. ROSE Why not come? As Jimmy said, you can look at the stars any night of the week...And Julie isn’t that bad Traci stubs out her cigarette and gets a new one from the packet beside her. TRACI It’s her attitude I don’t like She lights up the new cigarette. TRACI (Con’t) I’ll be fine here Tonight’s one of the clearest night this town has seen in ages...I have to stay ROSE I don’t know what you see in all this astrology shit anyway JIMMY Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as an influence on human affairs Rose and Traci both look at Jimmy, they are both shaking their heads. ROSE Oh god he’s been at a dictionary again. Johnny and Traci both laugh TRACI He’ll be quoting the words that come before that soon JIMMY Astrolabe? Rose and Traci start to laugh again. JOHNNY Oh please Jimmy, don’t try and impress women via a dictionary. I’m almost as thick as you are...but I know how to impress Johnny puts one hand round the back of Rose’s neck and starts to kiss her passionately. Jimmy gets embarrassed and turns the opposite direction. TRACI Back to what’s happening tonight now please JIMMY Ok I’ll leave here about 6.30 and be back at 11.30 Johnny and Rose stop making out. JOHNNY I’ll make sure he’s back on time TRACI Whatever JOHNNY Hey, who kept this idiot at college all those years? Rose slips in a joke. ROSE Probably the girls in Gym class JOHNNY Or the boys one Jimmy gets slightly angry at Johnny’s remark. JIMMY Ha fucking ha Jimmy notices Cynthia and Jenna coming slowly up the hill. JIMMY (Sarcastic) Oh great...Here comes Thelma and Louise Johnny is the only one who laughs at Jimmy’s attempt at wit Traci kicks Jimmy in the leg. Jimmy turns around and Traci shows him a wicked smile. Cynthia and Jenna get to the top of the hill and sit down. Traci smiles at the two girls. TRACI Keeping a check on me? JIMMY Of course they are JENNA (Joking voice) No way, we always trust a mystic who believes in every phenomenon known to man And who tried to top herself last year Jenna laughs JENNA (Con’t) Even one who goes up to the top of some hill with the town perverts Jimmy turns round and gives a snarling look towards Jenna JOHNNY (Dumb voice) Hey...Jimmy isn’t a perv TRACI And I don’t believe in every known phenomenon CYNTHIA But most TRACI Yeah well, I need something to keep me busy at night Johnny looks over to Traci. JOHNNY I’m sure Jimmy can fire you up at night CYNTHIA The only thing he’ll be firing is blanks. Traci, Jenna and Rose all laugh. CYNTHIA Are you guys going to be staying up here all night? Cynthia wraps herself up in her coat. CYNTHIA (Con’t) It’s freezing already JIMMY I’m thankfully out of the stargazing for a short while JENNA (Yawning) Where are you going then? JIMMY I’m gonna go to Julie’s party at the REC center with Johnny and Rose Jenna rolls her eyes. JENNA Oh...So she’s having another one of them their famous parties of hers Johnny starts to eye up Cynthia. JOHNNY You two could come...it’s an open party Remember the ones we all used to all go to when we were at college CYNTHIA The all night ones? JIMMY Yeah, should be good fun Jenna laughs and shakes her head. JENNA A night out with Julie and he calls that fun When will the boy learn? Jimmy gets up and walks over to the make shift tent he and Traci had been making for their night out. CYNTHIA Rob and Marcus are taking us out tonight anyway JENNA Yeah, that reminds me, we better get back to mine and wait for the boys to return from work TRACI Where are you going tonight then? CYNTHIA Just to the cinema, nothing special TRACI Cool Well want to meet up tomorrow? JENNA Sure thing We have nothing else planned Cynthia spins round CYNTHIA (Loud) We don’t? JENNA No. A whole free day of lazing around Traci’s is on the calendar for us my girl Cynthia gets up. Jenna also gets to her feet a couple of seconds after her. TRACI Ok I’ll talk to you tomorrow Jenna and Traci start to walk off Jenna continues talking to Traci on the way JENNA Ok We’ll be around yours at about 11 INT. JENNA’S HOUSE – LATE AFTERNOON Cynthia is slouched across the sofa in the front room of Jenna’s house. Jenna is sitting upright in a chair next to the sofa, her eyes glued to the TV screen. The TV is on and the movie Day of the Dead is playing from the video player. Cynthia’s face squirms at one of the scenes from the movie, she then proceeds to cover her eyes and face with a pillow from the sofa. CYNTHIA (Through Pillow) This is so sick Jenna looks over at Cynthia and laughs. JENNA Its ace, there’s nothing better than a good horror film in the afternoon, is there? Cynthia removes the pillow from her face. CYNTHIA I can think of quite a few things I would rather be doing than watching this Cynthia takes a short glance at the clock The clock shows 5:43 PM CYNTHIA Those two should be back from work pretty soon JENNA Yeah, better get re... Jenna is stopped in mid-sentence by her mobile phone ringing. It rings twice before Jenna decides to answers it. JENNA (Into phone) Hello? Cynthia stops the video and turns off the TV. MARCUS (Through phone) Hiya JENNA (Sarcastic) Oh it’s you I was expecting my lover MARCUS I have some good news and some bad news JENNA And? MARCUS The Bad...we are going to be pretty late back from work The Good...we got all got invited over to Julie’s party Jenna slumps back into her seat and sighs. JENNA I’m sorry, did you say that was good? Come on Marcus, I thought it was just going to be me, you, Rob and Cynthia going out tonight? MARCUS So you don’t want to go to her party? Come on, it will be a laugh JENNA Julie is not a laugh, even in the funniest of terms Jenna rolls her eyes at Cynthia. JENNA (Con’t) You two can go if you want. Jimmy, Johnny and Rose are going, so you will have some company there. Cynthia and me can go up to the hill and play sentinel to the stars for Traci until you come back Marcus gives off a slight sigh. MARCUS What time did they say they were getting back from the party? JENNA I believe it was about 11 Cynthia nods towards Jenna. JENNA (Con’t) Yeah...Cynthia says it was 11...We will meet you back here at 11 Ok, bye MARCUS Bu... Jenna hangs up without letting Marcus say anything else on the matter. Jenna is now looking rather angry CYNTHIA What’s happening now then? JENNA We’re going to spend most of the night looking at the stars Cynthia rubs her eyes and blows out a big sigh. EXT. DEVILS HILL – NIGHT Jimmy is getting his backpack ready for the party at Julie’s, he is trying not to show off what he is putting inside of the pack. Traci is lying on the grass by the side of her tent keeping a look out for stars. Rose and Johnny meanwhile are up on their feet getting ready to go. ROSE Jimmy, we’re gonna get going JIMMY Ok, I’ll give you a ring when I get into town...I’ll tell you what time I’ll be meeting you there Jimmy waves his mobile phone at the two of them. JOHNNY Ok then, Cya later mate JIMMY Yeah...Catch you both later Rose and Johnny walk down the hill hand in hand off to the party. JIMMY Well I’m going to be on my way Traci sits up and looks at Jimmy. TRACI Ok, Don’t forget you have to be at the college to clean at four o’clock JIMMY How the hell could I forget the one job my qualifications could get me? Traci stands up and walks over to her backpack, she gets out some cigarettes. TRACI Make sure your back here by 11 I am starting to wish I never came up here Traci lights up a cigarette. JIMMY I’ll be back, don’t worry TRACI (Stern voice) I’m not worrying Jimmy puts his mobile phone into his jacket pocket and then picks up his backpack. He then starts to make his way down the hill. Traci sits back down. INT. JENNA’S HOUSE Cynthia is lying down on the sofa when the mobile phone rings. Jenna walks in from the kitchen with a few beers she was getting ready to take with them to see Traci. Jenna holds the beers up to Cynthia, showing that her hands are full. JENNA Do you think you could you get that? CYNTHIA Sure Jenna walks back out to the kitchen Cynthia picks up CYNTHIA (Into phone) Hello? All that can be heard on the phone is slight breathing, no one would recognize who it is CYNTHIA Marcus? Is that you? The person on the other end of the line still doesn’t answer CYNTHIA (Louder voice) Ok you two, it might have been funny for a few seconds CLICK Whoever it was on the phone has hung up on Cynthia. Cynthia puts the mobile down onto a nearby table. Jenna returns from the Kitchen. JENNA Who was it? CYNTHIA I think it was some of the guys from the party pissing about JENNA Already? Jenna glances at the clock on the wall. JENNA (Con’t) I wouldn’t have thought it had started yet Cynthia gets up off of the sofa and then proceeds to get her coat. JENNA (Con’t) I guess we better go and meet Traci then Cynthia and Jenna walk towards the front door of the house. CYNTHIA Got everything? Jenna feels into her pockets and then looks up and rolls her eyes. JENNA Damn it, I’ll just get my mobile Jenna walks back into the front room and then returns a few seconds later with her mobile phone in her right hand. She puts the mobile phone into her right side pocket. Cynthia and Jenna walk up to the front door, open it, walk out and then close the door behind them. EXT. DEVILS HILL – NIGHT Traci has fallen asleep on the grass close by her tent, there is a gas lamp burning close beside her. In the background, far behind the tent walks a dark FIGURE holding something in its hand. The FIGURE is wearing a coat that is all black and also has something covering its face from view. The FIGURE walks forward, towards the tent, making almost no sound as it walks over the grass. The FIGURE knocks over some glasses that Jimmy or Traci left behind. As it nears the tent, Traci makes a slight moan but doesn’t wake up. EXT. BOTTOM OF DEVILS HILL – NIGHT It is gradually getting foggy as Cynthia and Jenna are walking along the pathway that leads up to the top of the hill. The stars are out, but are barely visible as the fog closes in. JENNA Whose idea was it to come up here tonight it’s freezing CYNTHIA Yours my dear...Yours JENNA You know you love it Cynthia grabs onto Jenna’s arm and stops her CYNTHIA (Scanning around) Can you smell something? JENNA Yeah What’s the big deal? Jenna joins Cynthia is scanning the surrounding area. JENNA (Con’t) It’s likely to be someone having a bonfire CYNTHIA Your probab... Smoke rising from the hilltop catches hold of Cynthia’s eye. CYNTHIA SHIT...look Cynthia points to the top of the hill. Jenna looks up and sees the smoke. JENNA I said cigarettes were bad for her Cynthia starts to run towards the top of the hill. Jenna follows close behind EXT. DEVILS HILL – NIGHT The smoke that they could see from the bottom of the hill turns out to be Traci’s tent, it is on fire and Traci is nowhere to be seen. CYNTHIA (Shouting) Traci... Traci Jenna puts her hand over her face to shield herself from the heat. JENNA (Talking above the flames) Perhaps she went with Jimmy and the others after all CYNTHIA There is no way she would have, she must be in the tent Cynthia takes off her coat and tries to beat back the flames. She gets a slight glimpse of a body burning inside the tent and screams. It’s Traci. In the dark, foggy background, just out of view from Jenna and Cynthia is a FIGURE. It is just standing there watching. FADE OUT: FADE IN: EXT. DEVILS HILL – LATER THAT NIGHT The police are checking out the scene of the fire. The whole area has been cordoned off from the public. Jimmy is in the background close to the tent. He has been asked to identify the body for the police. Jenna and Cynthia are comforting each other while Marcus and Rob both who have returned are standing close by talking to each other. Rose and Johnny are also there, but are being questioned by a police officer in the background. Jimmy finishes identifying the body and nods his head to the coroner. The charred body of Tracy is then covered up and carted down the side of the hill to a waiting van. Jimmy walks back over to Rob and Marcus, rubbing his eyes and scratching his head. ROB Well? Jimmy shows no emotion at all as he answers Rob’s question. JIMMY It’s Traci Cynthia and Jenna overhear what Jimmy said and start to sob even more. Rose and Johnny have finished talking to one of the police officers and go back to comfort Jenna and Cynthia. ROB What the hell happened here then? JIMMY The police say it was an accident Jimmy pauses for a second as he thinks. JIMMY (Con’t) Traci fell asleep in the tent with the gas lamp on, it fell over and now she’s gone MARCUS But didn’t she come up here to look at the stars? Wasn’t that what she had been waiting to do all this week. Marcus points over to the burnt out tent. MARCUS (Con’t) Why go to sleep in the tent after all this planning? ROB Come off it Marcus, you know what Traci is like...Accidents happen Marcus is getting angry, he corrects what Rob said MARCUS You mean, you know what Traci WAS like Rob walks over to Cynthia and Jenna, both Marcus and Jimmy follow him. ROB Look we’ve all had a long night The police will be round in the morning to go through some more questions and stuff with all of us. It might be best for us all to go home now and get some sleep. Jenna and Cynthia turn to face the rest of the group that is now crowded around them. They both have red eyes and their faces are wet from the crying. Jenna looks over at Marcus her face seems slightly puzzled. JENNA (Sniffles) You two got here quick Rob answers for Marcus. ROB We didn’t manage to make it to the party...work was too heavy MARCUS We got the phone call and came here straight away Jenna and Cynthia look at each other puzzled...there was no call made by them. CYNTHIA What call? We never phoned you ROB I answered...It was the police... they called us about an hour or so ago JIMMY This only happened an hour ago...how the fuck would they have known anything about this back then? Jenna looks even more bewildered at Jimmy JENNA How did you know this happened an hour ago? JIMMY The police called the party and asked for me Cynthia doesn’t believe Jimmy as usual. CYNTHIA Yeah...when JIMMY I don’t know. It must have been about three-quarters of an hour ago CYNTHIA Wait a second Cynthia calls over the officer who had been questioning them all a little earlier. CYNTHIA Officer can I ask a question Over walks SHERIFF CASEY, he’s a fat man about 40 years old. SHERIFF CASEY Sure, what’s the problem ma’am? CYNTHIA What time did we call the station? The sheriff looks at his wristwatch. SHERIFF CASEY It’s 11.10 now, it must have been about 10.30 CYNTHIA Ok, thanks SHERIFF CASEY Is that all you wanted to know? CYNTHIA Yes, thanks Johnny decides to ask a question. JOHNNY Any idea when we might be able to go home? SHERIFF CASEY We are pretty close to wrapping this all up...you can all go now. Johnny closes his eyes and mutters “yes” under his voice. SHERIFF CASEY (Con’t) We will be round each of your houses tomorrow morning to get a few more statements ROSE So it was an accident then? SHERIFF CASEY It certainly looks that way ma’am, but we won’t know the full details until the autopsy is through late tomorrow afternoon The word Autopsy causes Cynthia to squirm and then vomit right beside Johnny. JOHNNY (Joking) Hey, mind the shoes Jenna comforts Cynthia again, although Cynthia seems to be quite calm, despite her vomiting session. SHERIFF CASEY Are you sure your ok ma’am? If you’re in even the slightest of shock we can get you checked over at the hospital JENNA She’ll be ok in the morning SHERIFF CASEY Well I guess it’s ok for you all to go home then Thank you for all your co-operation ROB No problem Sheriff Casey walks back over to the area where the tent was and starts to talk to the other officers now on the case. JENNA See they couldn’t have called you MARCUS Look, lets just all go back home and get some rest ROB Cynthia, where do you want to stay tonight? Cynthia doesn’t get to answer. JENNA She’s already phoned home, she’s staying with me tonight ROB Ok Marcus and I can walk you both back home, then we better get back home ourselves JIMMY I’ll be staying at my aunts until 2 am. I then have to go into the college for work if anyone needs me ROB Ok then Let’s go They all walk down the hill together. INT. JENNA’S HOUSE – NIGHT The door lock clicks, then the door swings open and in walks Jenna, Cynthia, Rob and Marcus. They all make their way into the front room. Marcus scans the front room and then looks toward Jenna. MARCUS Are your parents still away? JENNA Yeah, they won’t be back until Monday ROB (Facing Marcus) We better be heading home, it’s nearly midnight JENNA Yeah You two go, if we need you at all I’ll call MARCUS I can stay if you like? JENNA With your hormones? Yeah right. Marcus gives off a timid smile at Jenna, then grabs hold of Rob’s coat arm. MARCUS Ok then Marcus kisses Jenna on the forehead. MARCUS (Con’t) I’ll call you in the morning Rob and Marcus head for the front door. Rob waves back at the two girls. ROB Night They open the door and walk out. Jenna closes the door behind them and locks up. Jenna returns to the front room. Cynthia is looking a little better now, she is far more relaxed than she has been for most of the night. JENNA You can sleep in my brother’s room through there Jenna points to a room just down the hall. CYNTHIA Ok thanks Are you off to bed then? JENNA Yeah, if you need me just call...Night CYNTHIA Night Jenna walks out of the front room and heads for the stairs. Jenna stops halfway up the stairs. JENNA (Shouting from stairs) And forget about all this, it wasn’t our fault, there was nothing we could have done for her A few moments later Jenna’s bedroom door closes. Cynthia gets up and walks out to her bedroom. INT. JENNA’S HOUSE -- BROTHERS ROOM – NIGHT The room that Cynthia has been given to sleep in, over looks a large garden and patio. On wall at the foot of the bed is a window. Cynthia decides to sleep with her clothes on, she pulls the curtains and then gets into bed. FADE OUT: FADE IN: INT. JENNA’S HOUSE – BROTHERS ROOM – NIGHT Something outside the bedroom window makes a loud bang and wakes Cynthia. She sits upright in bed only half awake. More sounds come from outside, this time it’s footsteps, getting closer and closer to the bedroom window. Cynthia gets up out of the bed and walks over to the window...she stands waiting and listening for a short moment...Cynthia then draws back the curtains in one fast sweep and looks directly outside THE FIGURE FROM BEFORE STANDS FACING THE WINDOW The FIGURE can now be seen more clearly than before...wearing a scarf or some kind of bandages to cover up its face and a long black coat. Cynthia screams...pulls back the curtains and stands silent and still as she faces the window. INT. JENNA’S HOUSE – JENNA’S BEDROOM Jenna was trying to open the window in her bedroom, it was jarred and she was unable to open it. Jenna hears the scream, leaves the window and walks out of her room and down the stairs. INT. JENNA’S HOUSE – BROTHERS ROOM ...Moments later Jenna runs into the room. JENNA What the hells the matter now? Cynthia stutters she is shaking slightly and almost unable to talk. CYNTHIA (Stutter) There’s someone out there Cynthia is pointing directly at the window. JENNA For Christ sake...look...it was probably some animal Jenna pulls back the curtains and they again receive a nasty shock. Rose is standing in the exact place the figure has been a few moments earlier. This time it’s Jenna’s turn to scream. A few seconds later Jenna starts to unbolt the window to let Rose in. JENNA (Shouting) Rose, what in fucks name are you doing here Rose climbs in through the window...she looks at Jenna and Cynthia in a very dumb way, as if she was expected. ROSE I got a phone call...I think it was Marcus? He told me that we were all going to meet up here CYNTHIA Marcus? But he went back home with Rob Cynthia starts to pace around the room trying to figure out what is going on. JENNA Are we entering re-runs of the Twilight Zone here? ROSE It was either Marcus or Rob...I can’t tell the difference JENNA Is Johnny coming over here too then? ROSE Yeah, he went to get Jimmy from his aunt’s place...He shouldn’t be too much longer...he didn’t expect him to be there and it’s not far from here anyway Jenna takes a look at the clock on the bedroom wall...it says 2.25am JENNA Yeah, Jimmy has probably gone to the college by now EXT. UNKNOWN STREET -- NIGHT Johnny is walking along the street heading up to see if Jimmy is still at his aunt’s place. Trees are the only thing that surround the walkway...lights can be seen in the far distance, but any sign of houses are about two minute’s walk away. He is listening to his stereo and is unable to hear the sound of footsteps behind him...after a few seconds the footsteps fade off. Johnny stops and looks round after sensing something weird. There is now a cat sitting next to a tree. Johnny laughs and then starts to walk on. Johnny looks behind him again...he looks right to the end of the street...then turns back...he walks on when suddenly... A FIGURE FLYS OUT FROM BEHIND A TREE Its face which is covered by what now clearly shows as a long black dirty scarf, inches from Johnny...the eyes are soulless...Johnny SCREAMS as the FIGURE DRAWS A LARGE KNIFE out from behind its back Johnny THROWS down his stereo, turns and runs as fast as possible. EXT. CORNER OF UNKNOWN STREET Johnny speeds around the corner of the street, looking both in front and behind him... In the distance, the FIGURE has vanished and is no where to be seen... Johnny stumbles over his own feet while running down the deserted road...when catching his balance...suddenly... The FIGURE moves in from out of nowhere, its arm is raised high...a long flash of silver...and Johnny is struck deep, in the neck. Johnny looks up...his body is frozen...the blade rises again...Johnny throws his hand in front of it...the knife comes down. BLACKOUT FADE IN: INT. JENNA’S HOUSE -- BEDROOM Cynthia, Jenna and Rose are all still in the bedroom. Jenna is bolting the window. She then closes the curtains. CYNTHIA (Serious) I saw something out there, I know it ROSE Well I couldn’t see anyone when I cut through the garden CYNTHIA He was wearing dark clothing and something covering his face Jenna has finished dealing with the window and comes in with another attempt at a witty line. JENNA Are we in X-Files or Millennium territory here? CYNTHIA Come off it Jenna, it’s not funny I know someone was out there Jenna is about to continue on with the jokes when there is a KNOCK at the door... Jenna and Cynthia decided to go check out who it is, Rose stays in the bedroom. ROSE (Shouting to the girls) It’s probably Johnny INT. JENNA’S HOUSE – FRONT DOOR Jenna unbolts and then opens the front door. It’s ROB and MARCUS looking tired and cold. ROB (Joking Voice) You called? JENNA (Sarcastic Voice) Err, no Rob then looks at Marcus and his head drops back. ROB Funny, my mum woke me...she told me that someone had called and said that we were all meeting here. No reason, just that we should come here quick Cynthia’s face changes mood. CYNTHIA (Shouting and getting angry) Ok, does anyone know who actually called anyone? JENNA Yeah...first Rose says that Marcus phoned and told her to come over Now we’re told someone called you guys...and that you should come over. (Shouts) Who’s doing the calling? No one replies. CYNTHIA I told you something strange is going on ROB Crank phone calls in this town are not that strange CYNTHIA No...But I saw someone out in the garden a few moments ago Marcus and Rob look at each other and smile. JENNA You THINK you saw someone...And that someone turned out to be Rose Cynthia seems to be getting angry because no one believes what she saw. CYNTHIA (Angry) It wasn’t Rose Marcus tries to change the subject. MARCUS So can we come in then? Jenna beckons the two of them into the house and closes the door, they all start to head towards the bedroom to see Rose. Immediately there are three quick KNOCKS at the door Jenna reacts swiftly this time, and moves toward the door handle. JENNA Can’t a girl get some peace and quiet? She opens the door... The cut up body of JOHNNY was leaning up against the door...the body falls in and hits the floor... Jenna screams out loud. Cynthia, Rob and Marcus quickly surround her and look over the body... ROB (Scared) Jesus Christ, what the hell is happening? JENNA I guess he’s dead MARCUS What does it look like? Stapled on the back of the Johnny is a piece of paper...Marcus crouches down on the floor...rips off the paper ROB Is it a note? Marcus reads the note out loud. MARCUS “Don’t be late for class” ROB “Don’t be late for class” What the hell’s that supposed to mean? Jenna shakes her head and shrugs her shoulders. MARCUS It must be something to do with college ROB Do you think it’s a clue? CYNTHIA A clue to what? ROB A clue to who’s doing all this JENNA And why they’re doing this MARCUS Perhaps it’s something to do with college? CYNTHIA Shit. Do you think whoever did this is going after Jimmy at college Marcus starts to panic MARCUS (Stutter) Ok, let’s not panic here ROB Get your coat Marcus...we better get over to the college and see what the fuck is going on MARCUS Don’t you think we should wait? ROB Marcus...don’t go chicken shit on me MARCUS But it’ll be locked ROB I’m sure we can find a way in CYNTHIA We’ll all go together, there’s no way any of us are separating now When suddenly... SMASH This makes them all jump back. Everyone’s head spins round to face the area where the sound had come from... From the bedroom where Cynthia had been sleeping...the sound of shattered glass hitting the ground inside and outside of the house can be heard. CYNTHIA (Shouting) Shit, No. ROSE is in there The group race into the bedroom to try and find her. INT. JENNA’S HOUSE – BEDROOM All that is left in the room is shattered glass...Rob points out a small splattering of blood on the carpet. CYNTHIA Oh god...no Cynthia is almost in tears...Marcus moves slowly toward the shattered window...he takes a look outside and down the end of the garden. MARCUS (Shouting) Rose...Rose It’s no good, there is no reply... ROB She’s gone Marcus ...Just silence as expected The group stands conveying the damage, each of them thinking to themselves. FADE OUT: FADE IN: EXT. HIGH SCHOOL GATES – NIGHT The school is only a few minutes walk away from Jenna’s house...as it reaches 3.00 am the temperature has almost reached freezing. Cynthia, Jenna, Marcus and Rob are all standing by the main college gates. The gates are closed and there is a lock around them stopping any kids from breaking in. MARCUS (Stern) What did I tell you...it’s locked ROB I said we’ll find a way in, and that’s what we’re gonna do Rob puts his hands on the gate and shakes it as hard as possible...it does nothing... JENNA It’s no use...we’ll have to find another way to get in Rob removes his hands from the gate... ROB Shit, what’s this? Rob looks down at his hands...they are now stained red in blood... ROB Oh for Christ sake CYNTHIA Well someone’s obviously been through here recently JENNA Over there Jenna points to a place in the wooden college fencing that is broken...it looks like people have been sneaking in and out through the small hole... Rob moves away some of the debris to try and clear a way through for them all... ROB Think we can get through here? MARCUS Shouldn’t be a problem They all look around at each other...looking too scared to say they will go first...Jenna looks at both Marcus and Rob... JENNA Fucking hell...and your supposed to be men? Jenna makes the move to go first...she crouches down on the ground and looks through the gap... JENNA It shouldn’t be... Before she gets to finish the sentence...the FIGURE stares through the gap and waves its finger at Jenna... JENNA (Screaming) SHIT She is startled and falls back...Marcus quickly looks through the gap...its clear...whatever was there before has gone. MARCUS What the hell’s the matter with you? Jenna pushes Marcus in the chest. JENNA Dipshit...someone was there This time Rob decides to look through...It’s clear again... ROB I’ll go first Jenna looks over at Marcus. JENNA Hey look Marcus...We have a man here Marcus just smiles and then shakes his head. CYNTHIA Look...why can’t we just phone the police and let them deal with all this? It’s not our job to mess with a killer is it? Jenna takes out the mobile phone from her pocket...she throws it over to Cynthia JENNA (Sarcastic) Call them now...don’t forget to tell them i have a sliced and diced body in my hallway Cynthia looks up angrily at Jenna JENNA (Con’t) The note was left for us to find, if we don’t follow this through Rose isn’t likely to be with us for much longer Cynthia nods at Jenna CYNTHIA If she’s even alive now JENNA That’s the chance we have to take ROB Look we’ll call the police as soon as we find out what’s going on here JENNA And when we have Rose out of there CYNTHIA (Sighing) Ok...let’s just get this over with, I’ve had enough scares tonight JENNA Haven’t we all? Rob proceeds to pull away more debris from the opening and starts to crawl through the small gap. EXT. COLLEGE INNER GATE In a matter of seconds Rob is through the small gap, next through is Jenna ROB Here, let me give you a hand Rob helps out Jenna by pulling back one of the planks of wood in the fence that is slightly broken and ajar...Jenna manages to get through without any trouble. JENNA Thanks Rob Next through is Cynthia and then finally Marcus, both of them easing through the fence with no problems. EXT. COLLEGE PLAYGROUND The College playground is quiet, there are no lights on, and the ground is littered just with leaves being blown around by the wind. Jenna, Cynthia, Marcus and Rob all walk slowly forward towards the main entrance of the college...The main college reception doors are banging wide open... JENNA Over there Jenna points to another small splatter of blood, this time on the main college reception doors. ROB Perhaps this guy got cut when he shattered the glass back at the house? JENNA I suppose it’s possible CYNTHIA But highly unlikely Cynthia takes a look behind her and around the college grounds, she hugs herself to try and keep warm. CYNTHIA Look...let’s just get this over and done with...the sooner the police are here, the better Rob starts to walk slowly into the reception of the college...he is careful not to make too much noise... INT. COLLEGE RECEPTION Rob walks slowly past a reception desk. Cynthia, Jenna and Marcus are following behind him... JENNA Isn’t there supposed to be some kind of night guard on? Rob turns around and faces Jenna. ROB Hmm, I’m not sure Perhaps he goes when Jimmy arrives? Jenna just shrugs her shoulders. JENNA I guess so They continue to walk past the reception and towards the corridor... EXT. COLLEGE GROUNDS – FAR END OF THE COLLEGE The FIGURE can be seen...it is dragging a body towards the back of the college...it reaches the end entrance to the college and opens the door INT. COLLEGE CORRIDOR ROB It must be up there Rob is looking straight at a classroom, which has a light on... CYNTHIA Isn’t that our old classroom? JENNA Yeah, that’s ours all right As they are talking they hear a noise...it is coming close to where their old classroom is...Rob puts his finger to his lips and makes a hush sound to keep everyone quiet... A few seconds later the FIGURE appears at the far end of the corridor...it is still dragging a body...heading towards the classroom... Rob starts to beckon everyone back around the corner of the corridor to stay out of view of the FIGURE...while walking slowly back, Cynthia knocks over a small table containing leaflets... The FIGURE drops the body, spins round and stares directly at them...reaching into its right pocket it brings out a large knife...the blade is covered in blood... MARCUS Did I just hear the bell? Just as Marcus makes his “witty” remark...the FIGURE starts to walk forward gradually getting faster the further it gets... JENNA Ok...i heard it too Before Jenna gets a chance to finish...the group get ready to run... The FIGURE starts to move even faster...reaching jogging speed... Rob heads for the stairs just behind the reception...Jenna, Cynthia and Marcus go out of the main entrance and onto the college grounds... Cynthia looks back while running and sees the FIGURE run past the reception door, towards the stairs after Rob... INT. COLLEGE – UPSTAIRS CORRIDOR The corridor is long and dark, along the left hand side are about five large classrooms, on the right are windows looking out over part of the college... Rob has stopped midway along the corridor...he stands still, next to a classroom...he is panting heavily...Rob checks behind him and looks towards the stairs, which he just ran up... There are the sounds of footsteps coming from the stairs...getting louder and closer...Rob makes a move to the nearby classroom to hide... INT. COLLEGE CLASSROOM The room is large. Rows of chairs are stacked neatly against the walls...towards the back of the room are two large metal lockers used to hold books and clothing...they have slats at the top... Rob moves warily towards the back of the classroom...he makes no sound on his way there...he reaches one of the lockers and starts to turn on the handle... INT. COLLEGE CORRIDOR The FIGURE is standing at the top of the stairs...knife still in its right hand...it moves gradually down the corridor...it stops and stands still outside the same classroom as Rob went into... EXT. COLLEGE GROUNDS – FAR END OF THE COLLEGE Cynthia, Jenna and Marcus have all moved to the end of the college grounds to the place where the FIGURE was carrying the body... JENNA The blood trail looks like it ends here Jenna points to the nearby door CYNTHIA Well let’s see if she’s in here then MARCUS Shouldn’t we go back for Rob? JENNA He knows how to handle himself, he’s also knows this college like the back of his hand Cynthia walks up to the door and pulls on the handle...the door easily opens and she walks in...Jenna and Marcus follow. INT. COLLEGE CLASSROOM The FIGURE has now reached the middle of the classroom. It is walking towards the lockers at the back of the room. As it reaches the first locker, which is situated on the left-hand side of the room, it pulls its knife back and plunges it deep into the middle of the locker. The FIGURE moves towards the next...final locker. Drawing its blade...it gets ready to cast the knife into the same position as before... Suddenly... Rob kicks open the locker and makes a run for the door...he stumbles over one of the desks...reaches to door but...the door has been locked... The FIGURE walks slowly up to Rob...pushing the desks out of the way...reaching Rob the FIGURE raises its knife and swipes at his chest...the blade just misses him. Rob crouches down and then runs fast...into the FIGURES chest...the FIGURE is staggered and swaying...Rob runs into another desk and falls over...the FIGURE spins around. The knife raises again...Rob tries to throw his hands in front of it...the blade comes down...but Rob clutches on to the sharp blade. ROB (Screaming from the pain of the blade) The FIGURE pulls the knife out from in-between Rob’s hands...raises its leg and then smashes it down onto Rob’s knee...a loud crack sounds out...Rob lies in agony, clutching his leg. There is now no way Rob can escape...he can’t even walk. The FIGURE crouches down beside Rob...cleans its knife on his coat...it picks something up from off the floor, which has fallen off of the desk. INT. COLLEGE END OF CORRIDOR – DOWNSTAIRS Jenna, Cynthia and Marcus are now back inside the college after entering via the rear entrance...they are standing about four meters away from where the FIGURE dropped the body before running after them. The body is in clear view...they all look down at it. JENNA Jesus Christ, look at that guys face Jenna covers her mouth, repulsed by the damage inflicted to the man. MARCUS I guess that was the night guard Cynthia is looking down the corridor. CYNTHIA I think we should go and get the police now, there is no way we can deal with someone who can do this to a person JENNA I’m going to agree with you this time, this is fucking sick Marcus has one last look at the body and swallows. MARCUS Ok, let’s go and find Rob...Then get the hell out of here There is a ringing sound coming from one of the girls coat pockets...it is Jenna’s mobile phone, she takes it out of her pocket and answers it. JENNA (Into phone) Hello? The only sound coming from the phone is a muffled, scream as if someone is trying to talk but something is covering their mouth stopping them. JENNA Listen to this Jenna lets the other two, Cynthia and Marcus listen in to the call. VOICE (From Phone, male, muffled) Come get your friend CLICK The person on the other end of the phone has hung up. Jenna, Cynthia and Marcus all look at each other. MARCUS Shit, he must have Jimmy CYNTHIA Or Rob JENNA Or Rose...but in my mind, whomever he has is bad news A few moments later there is a smash...and then a thud just outside of the college doors where the group is. They all jump...Jenna and Cynthia hug each other as Marcus carefully walks towards the door where the thud came from. EXT. COLLEGE GROUNDS He opens the door...below his feet is shattered glass that has fallen from the classroom above. A little further away is a body...covered in blood and pieces of glass. Marcus has a look around and above him to make sure there is no one about pounce...walking over to the body it becomes clear that it’s Rob... Marcus rolls the body over. Rob is clearly dead, his mouth has been stapled together by the figure. There is a large paper note stuck on Rob’s clothes...it reads “So I’ll never make anything of myself? Number 4” Cynthia and Jenna come walking out of the college door. CYNTHIA What was it? Marcus rips the note off of Rob’s body and walks over to the girls. MARCUS It’s Rob Cynthia starts to cry and walks slowly towards Rob’s body...Marcus pulls her back and hugs her. He whispers something into Cynthia’s ear. MARCUS Please don’t look...it’s not worth it. We’ll find out who did this Jenna notices the note in Marcus’s hand. JENNA What’s that? Jenna holds her hand out to Marcus. He hands her the note from the body. She reads through it. JENNA It must be someone we know...Maybe from college? MARCUS Doesn’t take a professor to work that out now does it? We should never have come here...we should have left it to the police to deal with Cynthia pushes Marcus away from her CYNTHIA Now you all say that? JENNA Let’s call the police now Jenna gets the mobile phone back out of her pocket and gets ready to call the police when...it starts to ring again. Cynthia and Marcus crowd around Jenna to listen in. JENNA (Into phone) What is it now? VOICE (From phone) Now, now Jenna is there any need to be like that...Let’s be friends Jenna nods at Cynthia and Marcus as she covers the receiver. JENNA It’s him She uncovers the mouthpiece JENNA Why are you doing this to us? VOICE You brought it on yourselves JENNA We don’t even know you Why are you hurting all of our friends? VOICE Hurt me and I hurt back...Except I’m taking things a little further JENNA What do you mean? How the hell did we ever hurt you? VOICE Aahhhh...you all forget so easily. But you know me Jenna...I’m not one to bear a grudge...as you can see. I’m quite reasonable. JENNA So killing all these people is being reasonable you sick shit? VOICE Your still alive aren’t you? At least you are at the moment Marcus grabs the phone off of Jenna. MARCUS (Into phone) We’re calling the police You’ve had your fun VOICE (Deadly serious) Bad move Marcus my friend Bad move MARCUS Who are you? VOICE Now now, it’s all part of the game MARCUS There is no game Marcus covers the phone and points towards the main college gates. MARCUS Let’s start heading towards the exit Jenna, Marcus and Cynthia all start to walk up through the college grounds towards the gates. Marcus uncovers the phone VOICE There’s a game all right, and you’ve just broken one of the rules MARCUS Rules? What rules? VOICE Quitting before I said you could Marcus pulls back Jenna and Cynthia and stops them from walking any further. Marcus looks around the grounds for any sign of the killer. VOICE (Con’t) You think walking away from here and calling the police will help you? Friends know where friends go. Friends know what friends do. MARCUS Jimmy? CLICK The caller has hung up. Marcus hands the mobile phone back to Jenna and then faces them both. MARCUS It’s got to be Jimmy. JENNA Why Jimmy? MARCUS He’s talking in the same manner CYNTHIA But why all these cryptic notes? MARCUS Looks like he hates us for something CYNTHIA He’s always blamed us for the entire hassle he got at college. Perhaps he’s trying to pay us back? JENNA I think it’s time to get out of here The group starts to walk down through the grounds again. Back towards the gates. MARCUS Move a bit faster, the sooner we get out of here the better CYNTHIA Call the police now Jenna Jenna takes out her mobile phone and dials. JENNA Great, just great It’s not working MARCUS It was working fine a minute ago JENNA Well it’s screwed now CYNTHIA Try it again Just as Jenna is about to try the number again, there is a small bang behind them. JENNA What was that? MARCUS He must be trying to sneak up on us from that way Cynthia starts to move a little faster towards the exit MARCUS (Con’t) Ok, let’s make a run for it JENNA Hurry, it will take us a while to get through the gap Cynthia, Jenna and Marcus all make a run toward the gates ...when suddenly The FIGURE appears from out of the college reception doorway a few yards in front of them, wearing the scarf and long coat, but this time no knife in his hand. Cynthia, Jenna and Marcus are startled and split from each other...they all go separate ways. Jenna and Cynthia head towards the back of the college where they just came from, Marcus is running towards the gym. INT. COLLEGE SPORTS CHANGING ROOMS The changing room is dark and the tiled floor is wet. There is a back entrance to the swimming pool not far away. Marcus comes sprinting into the changing rooms, slamming shut the door behind him. He slumps against the door. His heavy breathing is the only sound in the surrounding area. EXT. COLLEGE GROUNDS -- FAR END OF THE COLLEGE Jenna and Cynthia stand together, they are watching for the FIGURES next move. The FIGURE is still standing outside the college reception door...his breath is clearly visible through the cold air. The FIGURE makes a quick move towards the two girls, changes his mind and then heads towards the gym. INT. COLLEGE SPORTS CHANGING ROOMS Marcus is still leaning up against the door to the changing room trying to catch his breath. Distant FOOTSTEPS can be heard getting closer to the door. Marcus stops leaning against the door and starts to walk backwards through the changing room. Marcus gets a fright as he bumps into something that was behind him on the floor. He spins around, looks to the floor and sees the body of Rose. Paleface, she is soaking wet and has a slight cut to the forehead. She is clearly dead. Marcus rubs his hands over his face and through his hair. MARCUS (Under his breath) Shit He looks around to try and find a place to hide as the footsteps reach the outside of the door and suddenly stop. Silence Marcus walks as quietly as possible past the door, which leads to the swimming pool. The changing room door opens slowly, revealing the FIGURE, drawing the knife from his right hand pocket he looks straight at the floor of the changing room, there are muddy footprints leading toward the swimming pool entrance. The FIGURE looks ahead and slowly walks past the body of Rose and towards the Swimming pool door. INT. SWIMMING POOL The pool is filled with practice canoes, there are oars lying around the outside of the pool. Marcus is waiting just around the corner of the door, ready to pounce on the FIGURE as soon as he enters. EXT. COLLEGE GROUNDS -- FAR END OF THE COLLEGE Jenna and Cynthia are still standing in the same place. Their faces are blank and looking straightforward. CYNTHIA Come on...Let’s make a go for the exit Cynthia grabs hold of Jenna’s arm and starts to drag her, they head towards the gates. INT. SWIMMING POOL Marcus is starting to look more and more worried. The FIGURE has not entered the swimming pool area yet. Marcus decides to take a quick glance around the doorway. Suddenly...the FIGURE appears from around the doorway and grabs hold of Marcus. Marcus struggles to get away, he manages a punch at the FIGURES stomach...the FIGURE gets caught off guard and stumbles back. Marcus runs around the back of the pool area, but there is no exit, apart from the one the FIGURE is standing by, he picks up a nearby oar left from canoeing practice and grips it tight in both hands. MARCUS Why are you doing this Jimmy? There is no reply, just a stare. MARCUS I’m not stupid Jimmy, I know it’s you. I recognized your voice on the phone Why are you doing this? FIGURE You’ve all had it so easy through life...you take everything for granted MARCUS What are you talking about? FIGURE I’ve always been classed as the misfit...the one who never fits in with anyone. Marcus moves even further away from the FIGURE around the back of the pool. FIGURE (Con’t) Your jokes about me...they...how do I put this? Got me just a little depressed while at college MARCUS None of this is making any sense Jimmy...Are you blaming us for all the problems you had at college? The FIGURE starts to look around for a way to get at Marcus. MARCUS (Con’t) It’s not our fault, you never listened to anything that was said, don’t blame us for your wasted life FIGURE Don’t worry Marcus, it’s all behind me. I’m making something of myself now MARCUS You call all of this killing...making something of yourself? FIGURE No I call it getting even The FIGURE takes a step forward...draws the knife from his right hand pocket and waves it in front of himself. FIGURE So what are you going to do now Marcus? Paddle out of here? Marcus makes a run towards the FIGURE, OAR in hand he aims a swing at the FIGURE, the swing is very slow...the FIGURE ducks out of the way with ease. EXT. COLLEGE INNER GATE Cynthia is pushing Jenna through the small gap, Jenna is still almost solid with fear and is struggling to make it through. CYNTHIA Cut me some slack here Jenna, Jimmy will be here any minute now INT. SWIMMING POOL The FIGURE and Marcus are still fighting Marcus takes another swing at the FIGURE, this time with a little more power...it hits him in the side...he falls to the floor, his knife skims across the wet surface. Marcus lifts the oar high above his head and tries to bring it down onto the head of the figure...the FIGURE rolls to the side and the oar cracks on the floor. The FIGURE grabs hold of part of the oar and pulls it towards himself...Marcus struggles to keep hold of it...Marcus loses grip and falls back. CYNTHIA Call the police now While running Jenna takes the phone from her pocket and starts to dial. JENNA (Into phone) Help us, there’s someone chasing us There is a slight pause as Jenna listens for the reply from the police. JENNA We’ve just come from the College and we’re heading down Haddonfield road Another pause as the reply comes JENNA For fucks sake this guys is killing people Jenna throws down the mobile phone and keeps on running. The FIGURE can be seen catching up on them from behind. JENNA Where are we heading? Cynthia doesn’t answer she just keeps on running. JENNA Come on...we lost him CYNTHIA Yeah right...we lost ourselves is more like it They stand still looking around for a couple of seconds when...Police sirens can be heard in the distance they are back towards the college along the roadway. CYNTHIA Let’s go back there, they must have got your call JENNA Are you crazy? Jimmy’s somewhere back there. Jenna looks round and starts to walk a little way forward. JENNA Help me open this Jenna and Cynthia move over to the window and attempt to open it up...no luck JENNA We’ll have to smash it, pass me that book Jenna points to a large dictionary that is lying on her dresser. Cynthia walks over to it when...the FIGURE kicks in the door in one swift move. He walks into the room and stands still, looking at the two girls. Cynthia throws the dictionary over to Jenna, this makes the FIGURE dive at Cynthia...she gets knocked to the floor. The FIGURE then goes slowly towards Jenna. CYNTHIA Sounds good to me Suddenly Jenna’s smile turns to a frown as her hands drop away from Cynthia’s face. The FIGURE is standing behind Cynthia. CYNTHIA What? Cynthia turns around and sees the FIGURE, this time with no knife. Fear fills her face. The FIGURE looks over Cynthia’s shoulder and directly at Jenna.
