Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Extreme Edition) is a two-disc DVD set that features a digitally remastered theatrical version of the film in high-definition video and full surround sound on a single DVD-ROM using Windows Media 9 Series. The cutting-edge high-definition "T2: Extreme DVD" offers consumers using today's powerful Windows XP-based computers nearly three and a half times the resolution of standard DVD video, and includes previously unseen extras.

You can connect a PC to an HDTV's video input and watch at full resolution.
DVDs, if you mean standard MPEG-2 DVDs, can't hold an entire film at HDTV resolution, plus the bitrate would be too high for most players to handle.
Windows Media allows HDTV content to fit on a DVD due to its greater compression, but requires a PC for playback until Windows Media Video consumer players are available.
