  ActiveWin.com and Neowin.com To Merge
Time: 11:55 EST/16:55 GMT | News Source: ActiveWin.com | Posted By: Todd Richardson

After nearly a month of talks between the two sites, ActiveWin.com and Neowin.com have decided to join forces! Since becoming a successful, reputable news source, we remember how it was to be a young, vulnerable, moderately successful news site and that allows us to empathize with Neowin. That is why we are opening our doors to them. Our collaboration will allow us to fuse the dynamic content and top notch news you’re used to with Neowin’s popular forums and growing community. We know this might be a bit of an adjustment for some of you, but please help us make this a smooth transition. We consider this something of a community service, helping out a good site that just can’t seem to help itself. We are confident this merger will be successful and allow us to serve the Windows community better than ever!

So after you merge with neowin.com will the site be in japanese or in english? Also, are you going to put up pretty pictures of Japanime toys as well?

Edit

Will I be able to pay in a currency other than yen for my tennis shoes, shirts and Pokemon toys?

The problem is when an otherwise credible story gets its first airing on April Fool's Day. Usually, however, there's enough of a telltale sign that it's a joke when it includes something completely incongruous. I don't see anything like that here. These two sites are similar enough that the merger seems like a good idea.

Assuming it's true, good luck and best wishes to the principals. If it's not true, its certainly something to consider. I just hope the terrorists aren't watching, thinking that April 1 would be a perfect day to attack since no one would believe it -- hehe.

Gary, the tip-off is the site is neowin.net, not neowin.com

(#6) Ahah! The success of many a site has been based on that same difference being overlooked (just as I did). "whitehouse.com" quickly comes to mind... Color me "fooled."

What will changed exactly, besides the two sites merging. Will Activewin still be the same or would there be visual and story based modifications? I hope AW adds some colour to the site, would make it more interesting.

But I hear that unless you play the joke before 12 pm, it would be bad luck and would not be true. So I am not sure what is happening. Maybe we're would know tomorrow..............

Speaking of April Fool's... MSFT is playing their joke by being HONEST:

"If we don't really know how to do something by now, it's probably time that we think about not putting it into the product," Allchin said.

SodaJerk,

too late they havn't been able to effectively improve IE for years and they still include it.

How hard can it be to put proper alpha and gamma support in PNG. and good CSS 2 support.??

Ahh well can't have it all. still waiting for good xhtml support also.
