Unfortunately, I don't think it's as simple as ZIP compression, for example. I think CAB is a generic storage format that uses other compression algorithms (usually ZIP, though, IIRC). Also, CABs can be signed and locked, etc. There are some Win32 APIs that you can call to help you with this. You didn't specify which language you were working with. If it's .NET/C#, then you're SOL. You'll have to use P/Invoke to call the Win32 API.
