Edit the \winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (no extension) file and add an entry for 127.0.0.1 localhost

Assuming a web server was installed on the system this would work fine... A Windows 2000 system uses a combination of the HOSTS file, DNS, WINS (if applicable), or just an SMB broadcast to resolve an address. Given that lipkaj stated that by using the ip address he was able to bring up the web page correctly, all he needs to do is add the entry to the hosts file and he can then use "localhost" in place of "127.0.0.1".
