Several possibilities - 1. The drive itself has failed. One way to check would be to swap in a spare drive 2. Update the BIOS. Download the latest bios and reflash. 3. Your computer has a cold - create a AV boot disc to run an AV check 4. Try putting in the WinXP install disc and run a repair.
