| That helps...but not really. ATi SB400 is a specific chipset used in motherboards. Again, it would help if you provided SPECIFIC information about your computer (i.e. if it's a store bought - Dell, Gateway, Compuke, etc - the make AND model of your computer). If it's a "custom" built, the SPECIFIC motherboard used. Without this info, we could only take a wild@ss guess. | I went to e-machines web site (www.emachines.com). Based on the info you provided, I'd have to guess that you have a eMachines T6524. (note: the model number is probably on the back of the computer case, along with the serial number). e-machines site doesn't include a link to download drivers and such. There are two options for you to try: 1. Put in the recovery cd. Then go to Start/Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/System. This will open up System Properties. Click on the Hardware tab and then Device Manager. Right click on the multimedia audio controller and choose uninstall. Then, click on the icon "Scan for hardware changes". This should allow your system to search for a new driver. Choose the drive that your recovery CD is in and it should be able to find the driver that way. You may need to point it to the specific directory on the CD. 2. Second option is to use Microsoft Update to scan for an updated driver. Update connects you to the internet and scans for needed security and other updates.
