it sounds like you have the computers connected directly to each other through the NIC's. Make sure that you're using a CROSSOVER cable (high quality CAT 5). ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100

OK - if they're connected to a router, then my suspicion is that there's something wrong with the new computer from a hardware standpoint. First thing I'd look at is the NIC - reason is that this problem occurs only when transferring large amounts of data. Next guess would be the mobo. Suggest that, since it's new, take it back and have it checked out. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 512mb RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Live Value; Windows XP Professional, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100
