I just want to start this by thanking you guys for any help you can give me. I've been all over the web and tried just about everything, and i would like any help at all. I'm using Verizion DSL service with my Westell 2110 Wirespeed Modem. I used to play XBL on my original xbox, i just recently got Xbox 360, and now im beginning to have problems. I can get on the internet on my computer via USB, and i use the ethernet port for my laptop. I try putting the ethernet into my 360 and it says that its connected, the IP address is working, the DNS servers are working, then it gets to MTU. i called up verizon support and they said that to change or monitor the MTU on my Modem could break it and they would not help me. I was looking for more information on my modem and it turns out it was discontinued. I resolve now to get a new modem, and just cross my fingers that it works. I'm ordering the Westell 6100 maybe from verizion directly, but i'm afraid that it may not be something thats wrong with the modem. From the information i provided is there anything that you could help me with, anymore information thats needed i can provide, but any help would be supremely apreciated, thanks.

When I had Verizon, your account and the server you connected to was tied to your modem. What I'd suggest is getting a router - i.e. the moden connects to the router, then you can connect your 'puter and XBox 360 to the router and share the connection. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100

Would the WESTELL 6100 work with Xbox Live. It doesn't say any westell modems or gateways on their compatibility list, but thats all that verizion offers.

As I suggested, your best bet is to get a router. The modem will work with the router, and allow both your PC and XBox to access the internet. In checking Verizon's site, they provide some information on setting up a wireless network, and links on including a wireless router (http://www22.verizon.com/forhomedsl/channels/dsl/micro/homenetworking/default.asp). A router will address all of your issues. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100

I'm having the same problem with a Westell 6100, and it's angering me greatly. Even going directly to the modem, the 360 can't connect to live because the MTU setting isn't sufficient. Supposedly, the downlink/uplink of this flavor of DSL w@ssupposed to be equal to the Cable service I had, which is clearly not the case. I'm just going to wait for FIOS to come to my area. If you figure out how to rig your Verizon DSL satisfy Live's MTU requirement, let me know.

I am trying to research this for my son. He is getting xbox 360 for xmas. I use Verizon dsl for my internet connection and have a Westell 2200 modem. I purchased the bridge connection to to on the back of the xbox and am about to buy a router. Am I to understand that I can run the dsl, my verizon phone service and the wireless for the xbox through the router?
