| Hey everyone, I reformatted my comp which is a dell dimension 4600 with windows xp home. I installed drivers for my audio that came with the comp. everything was fine until I decided to update to service pack 2, after that both sound cards I have don't work. I have an after market card that I found that I don't think is supported anymore: Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM) along with the card that came with the comp: SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio. I have tried updating the drivers, uninstalling them, reinstalling the old drivers. The only sounds I get are from the internal speak inside the cpu that just beeps (kinda annoying) And when I try to play music on win amp I get an error: DirectSound output v2.47 (d) error Bad DirectSound Driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error code: 88780078 I've tried using both cards but get the same error. Any help will be appreciated. |

| Just tried going into Volume control and seeing if it was something simple like just being muted. But when I tried to open it up I get this message: There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. So I did that and found no problem with the audio codecs, legacy audio drivers, and media control devices. All are working just fine (or so window's says). Is there any reason why my mixer device would uninstall itself? Because I know I didn't do it and no one else touches my comp. I'm just so confused as to what could be wrong, and why. |
