| i have an xp system that reboots when i issue the shutdown command. this problem was not occurring prior to uninstalling symantec antivirus. at this point i just need the quickest solution to prevent windows from rebooting. i.e., is there a registry setting that will completely disable windows ability to reboot? any alternative suggestions (even if they are not quick) will be happily accepted too. P.S. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindows WindowsUpdateAUNoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers = 1 does not solve my problem. just mentioning this (not because i thought it would work) but because it's been suggested to me by a number of other folks and i figure it might continue to be suggested unless i mention i've tried it. |

| Check Symantec's website. When you uninstall SomeAntics, it still leaves pieces of itself lying around (kinda like a tapeworm...).
