Hello everyone...
I just formatted my hd and installed an old copy of XP home that I had. I then burned a cd with SP 2 and installed it.
The network adapter is on the motherboard.
My problem is that after I reloaded windows on a freshly wiped drive, the only thing under network connections is my 1394 connection. I have the computer hooked up to a router in the #1 slot, with the router hooked up to the modem.
When I try to set up a network, it goes through the wizard, takes a few seconds to do it, and then nothing happens. It should be coming up with a LAN connection.
When I try to repair the 1394 connection, it tells me it cant... "Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection."
I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks

Check Device Manager to see if the driver for the ethernet adapter is installed (there will be a yellow ! if it isn't). Oft times, an ethernet adapter that's built into the motherboard requires a separate driver to be installed.
