i have a graphics question pertaining to windows vista. i am using the home premium version and i am noticing that my graphics card is not running as fast as it was before when i was using xp. i am running a benchmark test and the score i was recieving before was with a lower grade video card and the score was 7000 which is fantastic. however with this newer, better video card and vista i am only running 4900 and with tuning my cpu it only reaches 5300. i was wondering since vista uses more of the vid card and processor if that seems like a viable reason for my graphics card to not be able to put out as much. also, i got the new card before i upgraded to vista and i didnt test it at that point but i noticed that it did run games better than the old card suggesting that it is in fact better than the old card. On older systems, benchmarks will usually have a lower score under Vista than they will under XP. There's not much that you can do to change that. There are several things you can do First, make sure you're using the latest driver for your video card. Next, increase the amount of system RAM you have. Vista will run ok with 1gig of RAM, but you'll see marked improvement by increasing to 2gigs or even 4 (if your system can handle it). Also, defrag your hard drive. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200
