| Ok so I was getting the BSOD for a while and did what I was reading of check for harddrive curroption yadda yadda yadda. But then one day it shut down as usual, and when I tried to boot it up, it came up with the similar blue screen but much shorter. It said........ [b][/b]A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilites. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. Technical information: ***Stop: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x82FAE328, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)[b][/b] Ok so that's great I'll unistall it but wait I can't boot my system. It won't boot into safe mode either, or last known configuration. I did manage to find a way to run some system tests from the Drivers install disc from dell, during the test I got 2 different error codes. The first one was 2F00:0419 Msg: System Memory Failure. The second one occured twice during the IDE Disk Read Test It was Error Code; 0F00:0244 Msg: Block 52496527 (Block 64161621) Uncorrectable data error or media is Write Protected. I had no clue what these meant so maybe one of you can but either way I saw that reinstalling XP would fix the problem but I don't want to do that. If it is necessary though, how do I use my SP1 Install disc because the last time I tried to reformat my harddrive to make space, it said I couldn't because I had a more current version of XP? Again any help would be great thanks! |

| It sounds like this is an older Dell. The first item (System Memory Failure) indicates that one or more RAM chips have fried. The second indicates that the HD may have been damaged. First question - did you install something or was there a power surge/failure before the BSOD began? Second, can you provide some system information (CPU, amount of RAM, video card info, etc).
