We have an small home metwork of 2 computers. Both computers run Windows XP. When watching a video on one of them (youtube, stream tv, etc) and we close or stop the video, the internet stop working (on both computers), and we have to reset the router. The Router is a Linksys BEFw11S4 (used with LAN cable for both computers, not wireless), the modem is an Actiontec M1000, the DSL provider is QWEST. This happens only with one of the computers. Can anyone please help with this? Thanks!

Check with QWest first. It sounds like a problem with the server you're connecting to. Is this something that just started without making any changes to either the computers or router? ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200

The problem only happens with one of the computers in the network so i don't think that Qwest would help. The problem started as soon as I made the network. Both computers are Pentium 4 running windows XP Pro. Only one of the computers cause the problem, when someone is watching a video on it and then close or exit the video: it disconnects or freeze the Internet, then the only way to regain access is reseting the router. Since the other computer never acts like this I think is something related to the first PC, some setting that escapes me.

That helps...sort of... To make sure I've got the configuration correct, the QWest modem is connected to the Linksys router, and both computers are connected via ethernet cable to the router. Correct? A couple things to check. First, try a different port on the router for the computer that causes the problem. If that corrects it, then there's an issue with that particular port. If not, then somehow this one computer is sending a signal to the router that essentially causing it to freeze the connection. It could be a variety of things - anything from a failing network card or problem on the motherboard, to some sort of virus/worm/trojan. Diagnosing if it's a hardware issue requires taking it in to a shop to check. As to whether it's a virus, depending upon what antivirus/internet security suite you're using, running a good virus scan and using something like SpyBot (free) to check for any malware and such might be in order. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200

Yes, jedimaster, that is correct. I tried already using different ports, to no avail. I will make sure that is not virus/malware; then I could try another network card. Thanks!
