Only post 1 problem per thread, throwing in 20 issues just makes things complicated.

For the win32 problem, the error you get means the file is corrupted. The most common reason you would get this is if you have a virus like the sircam virus. Scan for viruses. Follow the below article:

http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q311446

The second reason you could get this error is bad ram or bad hard drive. WHen you open a program its stored in memory, then later when you close it it's saved back to the hard drive. The file could be corrupted while in ram, or if the hard drive is going bad the file could be saved to a bad cluster.

You say a clean install. Do you mean you formated? or installed windows in a new folder? DId you have this problem right after a clean install, or after you installed 3rd party programs?

Well to me you have incompatible hardware. And win98 is not the same as winxp. Win98 doesnt care if you have bad hardware, winxp has a hardware abstraction layer (hal), so xp is more picky about bad hardware. Try updating the drivers for all your hardware, make sure you have the latest firmware. Other than that, xp might not work.
