Just like there was with the Dual Strike game pad, there are a lot of preset schemes you can choose from, and yet again you can also easily edit them or write your own.

Control Panel Settings

From this area you can use, create and edit schemes which you then use with the SideWinder Game Pad Pro. You can also test out the controller responses (Below) and change the Directional Pad's modes to Standard or Proportional settings here just to suit you.

  • Schemes View the available schemes for your game pad. Select a scheme to make it active in your game, or to make changes to it. Print a scheme. View driver, firmware version, and controller ID information for your game pad.
  • Test Test the controls on your game pad to see if they're working correctly.
See how a programmed game action will work in your game.
  • Recorder Program Program game actions for a scheme, and assign them to game pad buttons. Make changes to recorded game actions.
  • Settings Change how the D-pad works in a scheme. Adjust range of motion and dead zone settings for a scheme.

  • Proportional Mode In Proportional Mode, the D-pad can give you the smooth, precise control of a joystick or the fast response of a game pad, depending on your game and your style of play. The D-pad’s eight direction points move you forward, backward, and side-to-side, and in some games, the four diagonal directions. When you want the fine control of a joystick, simply move your thumb all around the circular D-pad. The more pressure you exert on the D-pad in any direction, the greater the response in your game. This is just like moving a joystick’s handle further from the center position.
  • Standard Mode In Standard Mode, the D-pad behaves as a traditional digital D-pad. The eight direction points move you forward, backward, and side-to-side, and in some games, the four diagonal directions. If you select Standard Mode, you can use the Recorder tab in the SideWinder software to assign game actions to the D-pad's eight direction points.
