Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3: Official Release Dates
Time: 08:34 EST/13:34 GMT | News Source: | Posted By: Kenneth van Surksum

A French website, PC Inpact, has posted the official Microsoft product change request forms for Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3. So just when do our friends from France say Microsoft is planning on releasing our little Service Pack friends? Well, according to them, we will be seeing Vista SP1 a little earlier than previously anticipated:

Windows Vista SP1: February 18th or 19th
Windows XP SP3: March 23rd or 24th

I still say it not being released to TechNet and MSDN now is ridiculous.

Why bother paying for these services if they don't support us as they should be?

Agree 100%

I have to get this patch into the test cycle ASAP so that I can make sure that it doesn't break anything before it gets rolled out on the date they say it will be out.

My $2200 for my MSDN sub seems like a waste when they do stuff like this...

TL: I'm an OEM "Partner" and don't have access to the SP1 download yet either. I was told that it will be available "soon", even though MS announced that "Partners" would get SP1 on Monday. It seems that only the mega-OEM partners have been given a leg up with SP1. We little Partners along with TechNet and MSDS have been pushed back such that we are at a disadvantage in testing and deployment of Vista SP1.

#1,3,

The full NW install package will be posted Feb. 18 and available for download on TechNet, TechNet Plus, and MSDN.

That should provide enough time to test. It is probable that affected hardware and drivers will be listed at that time. Though I doubt it.

It's official...MS has cofirmed that "RC1 Refresh 2" IS RTM.
Currently, it's only available to Connect users via WU w/ a reghack, but ISO and standalone package should be available this week.

Rectification: http://uxevangelist.blogspot.com/2008/02/vista-sp1-official-release-date-no-good.html

Well, just after coming forth with the news posted by PC Inpact (who has indeed come forth with credible information in the past, thus my willingness to post it on my blog), I have been kindly informed that the February 18th/19th is *BZZZZ* WRONG! Yes, the screenshots of the product change forms are very much real but apparently, Vista SP1 has since then been moved yet again to the more recent beta community projected date of March 18th/19th; Right around the corner from the currently CORRECT official release date of March 23rd/24th for XP SP3.

SO, speculation dictates Vista SP1: March 18th or 19th
