Microsoft will limit to 25 the number of free Windows 7 upgrades for customers who buy PCs with Vista between June 26 and the new operating system's Oct. 22 release date " a restriction that could discourage businesses from purchasing large numbers of PCs over the next four months.

In today's economy I find it surprising that any company would want to limit sales of any kind

It is the eternal dilemma:
how much we can squize out from customers before it backfires and undercut sales.
It is the hardest thing to figure out when you are in business.
Said that I would agree that as it is this limitation does not make sense unless you see it as another MS attempt to push SA.

Wow.. This is amazing.. I'm sure the companies like Dell/HP are really disliking MS right now..

Maybe these companies will offer the upgrades themselves so they don't loose big orders..

Big businesses don't normally buy PC's with an image on them. They like their own.

Small businesses can buy 25 now and as many as they want on October 22nd. Is that a hardship?
