Excited about Windows 7 but not sure if your current XP computer can handle it? Maybe it's a good idea to make sure you can go back to the operating system you used prior to the upgrade. This is where system backup software such as that made by Acronis comes into play. The company announced Tuesday the latest version of its backup software for home users, the Acronis True Image Home 2010, which supports Windows 7 as well as previous versions of the OS. |

| I got burned one too many times by Ghost so I switched to Acronis a few years ago, and with the exception of a few minor bugs, I've been satisfied with their backup and imaging solutions. |

#1 & #2 I whole heartily agree while not 100% perfect thier True Image\Echo products have been fantastic since v8 and up when I compare them with my experiences with other products in that space, well worth the investment, generally to date with current needs, I hope they keep up thier continued improvements.

Look up the Clonezilla Live-CD. It's free and does an AWESOME job; its what I use at home as well as work. Unlike a lot of the other free cloners, this only clones the used space on a drive. Within 15 minutes, I can have my system restored back from an updated image.
There was a clonezilla server edition for pushing out images via multi/unicast to multiple computers. We were doing 8-10 machines at once (booting via the network card to download the clonezilla client) and we were pulling 1+GB/min transfers. |

For many years I was a PowerQuest customer. I used DriveImage and Partition Magic exclusively.
It all fell apart with DriveImage 7. They turned what used to be a great imaging program that totally kicked Ghosts's ass into a useless, product activated, pain in the ass back up program instead of what it was born to be. It must have killed sales completely. They were bought by Symantec in 2003, and in no suprise whatsoever, Symantec basically killed the products. It seems to have been a typical buy & shelve maneuver of a competitor than anything else, which we've seen many times from Symantec. I switched to all Acronis stuff in 2002/2003 and haven't looked back. I do have to say I don't think PartitionMagic has been beaten by any company since. It's just a shame it's not being updated any longer, and hasn't for years, and compatibility is way off now making it pretty much useless with current day stuff. TrueImage's use of the Network is brilliant. It actually works. This was always a big problem with DriveImage, and usually required the creation of special boot disks with NIC drivers, etc... much like Ghost. TrueImage builds a boot system that seems to work in just about every environment. |

| ActiveWin site reliability seems to be getting wonkier every week. What ever happened to the "Completely New Site" that was supposed to have hit years ago? |

| TL and Latch: Since I began using Chrome 3 ActiveWin has been a great site. Possibly an update from MS or Mozilla is causing some issues eh. |
