Time: 10:58 EST/15:58 GMT | News Source: ActiveWin.com | Posted By: Robert Stein

Microsoft is currently testing a Technical Preview version of Office 15, its next-generation office productivity suite. A small number of third-party partners, OEMs, and businesses have access to the code, but Microsoft is staying mum on the exact features of its next release. We previously took a closer look at Office 15 with detailed screenshots of its new Metro inspired interface, showing off the clean and simple look for the future of Office. Today we are able to share details on a number of new and improved features in each of the core applications for Office 15, thanks to several people with access to the early Technical Preview code. From Touch and Reading Mode to a Weather Bar feature in Outlook 15, we have exclusive details on Microsoft's plans — read on to find out more.

So, the Metro Disease is going to spread to office too.

What the hell are they thinking.

So far, Windows 8 CP has been accepted about as well as Herpes.

@Tech

Metro is probably a disease to you...I know a lot o folks that are embracing Metro...espacially on Tablets.

Like Win8, YOU have the option in Office 15 of disabling the Metro UI.

The acceptance rate of Metro is a disaster. Admit it. All you have to do is a little research and you'll easily see that it is not getting a warm welcome.

It is what it is. A terrible idea for desktops.

Forcing a TABLET interface on desktop users is ridiculous. At a minimum, it should be an option, not forced upon people.

Who are these phantom people you claim to know that are running a beta of Win8 on a tablet? They don't exist other than in your mind, I would bet.

Believe it or not: Half the people that tried W8 don't like Metro, see link below. This doesn't bode well for W8 tablets, especially with the extremely impressive iPad 3 coming out. Don't tell me you aren't impressed with a 10 inch display that has 50% more pixels than a 1080p HDTV.

#2: I am curious, what kind of hardware these people using W8 on a Tablet have?
I have a Toshiba M400 Tablet and I cannot use the pen with W8: I cannot recall the Charm Bar, the running programs do not show up in the left side, if I am in the Desktop view I cannot make the "Start" button/icon appears.
Based on what I see it seems that MS in not really interested in "ink" anymore, "touch" is the new, much less useful IMO, thing........

By boss just demoed his Samsung Windows 7 Slate that was tightly integrated with our Office 365 environment. I would trade my iPad 2 in a heartbeat. Wit respect to productivity, it makes the iPad look like a toy.

I also just loaded the latest preview of Win 8 (on a T60) - it is certainly better than the initial preview and I really like the tight integration with the cloud. It still needs some work but I think they are on the right track for a tablet that is more than just a toy.

The Slate came with a stylus that had awesome ink capability. But as you said they might not bring that into the Windows 8 experience.
