News that Microsoft Windows 8 will ship without Media Center installed or a means of DVD playback has left users searching for alternatives. Most of the techie blogs seem to recommend VLC Media Player. This is a program many people will be familiar with as it has been around for a while. It started as an academic project developed by students in 1996 to stream video across the campus of the Ecole Centrale in Paris. |
