Update: Microsoft admits it knew about, didn't patch, bugs

Microsoft Corp.'s security team today acknowledged that it knew of bugs in its Jet Database Engine as far back as 2005 but did not patch the problems because it thought it had blocked the obvious attack vectors.

A researcher at Symantec Corp. said Microsoft should have fixed the flaws years ago.

In a post to the Microsoft Security Research Center (MSRC) blog late Monday afternoon, Mike Reavey, the MSRC's operations manager, admitted that outside researchers had notified Microsoft in 2005 and 2007 of separate bugs in Jet, a Windows component that provides data access to applications such as Microsoft Access and Visual Basic.

Fortunately, I was lucky - they did grow back correctly but it took a really long time and disrupted my life by forcing me to avoid outdoor activities.

Being of a helpful nature, I want to draw people's attention to the symptoms of nail fungus and how to cure it. I want to make sure that your nails grow back correctly and have the best appearance.

First, I have to admit, I really had no clue about the signs of a nail infection or what causes it. After doing extensive research I found that a nail infection occurs when a fungus attacks a toenail, fingernail, or the nail bed. Fungus can invade your nails through cuts around your nail or through the opening between your nail and nail bed. If you have good health, a fungal nail infection most likely will not cause significant. However, it will probably look bad, like in my case, and may even hurt if it becomes worse.

There are many organisms that could cause nail fungus including yeasts, molds and fungus. These organisms grow in moist places that are warm, and they can spread from person to person more easily than you think. Most people contract nail fungus from walking barefoot in public places, from public showers, public pools, sharing items such as nail files, clippers, towels, etc. I�m pretty sure I got mine from my local nail salons but it is almost impossible to know exactly.

It is more important to know the symptoms so that you can get down to curing it without any delay. Symptoms to look out for:

-Your nail turns yellow, black or white
-Your nail becomes thicker
-Your nail crumbles and splits
-You nail separates from the skin
-It becomes uncomfortable or painful to wear shoes or walk

Heed the symptoms, and take if from me who has experienced nail fungus, that the condition will only deteriorate if you do not take any steps to cure it.

Since I�ve had this problem on several occasions I have tried many products on the market, both prescription and over the counter. After comparing the results from both I can honestly say that many of the over the counter products are just as effective as the doctor prescribed products I�ve used but with little or no side affects. So what I can tell you with 100% confidence is that you don�t need to go to a doctor to get rid of your nail fungus. However, forget about any home remedies you�ve read about on the internet because I have tried them all and can save you a lot time and money by saying - they don�t work!

Products which can be locally applied are the best. I was averse to ingest any medication internally for this malady since it is only a nail problem. The bottom line is that there are plenty of topical anti-fungal products readily available without a prescription and are great at curing this problem.

No one wants to be uncomfortable or embarrassed by unsightly fingernails or toenails. Don�t waste time - do something today to get rid of your nail fungus!
