Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 Final - German Release
Time: 19:18 EST/00:18 GMT | News Source: ActiveWin.com | Posted By: Byron Hinson

It seems that Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 is gradually leaking out from Microsoft (the final version that is). There were German and English versions released earlier today onto the Microsoft servers but currently only the German version below is still online: (Windows XP SP1 Users do no need to upgrade)

On a hunch, I just checked my MSIE 6 version after installing Windows XP SP1.

Indeed, it says "SP1".

It _looks_ like you don't need to download MSIE 6 SP1 if you have installed WinXP SP1.

I have a second XP boot partition I use for gaming that I haven't updated yet. I'll check to be sure.

The exact version is:

6.0.2800.1106.XPSP1.020828-1900.
Update Versions; SP1

Now THAT's a hell of a version number :)

I forgot to mention that - I'll add that to the story in a few minutes.

Oh, and btw... It could be my imagination, but the system feels like it has a _bit_ of a new snap to it.

I might take the risk tonight and install XPSP1... Someone needs to be on the bleeding edge! :)

Ok... done...

TechLarry - It does seem snappier. I'll be curious to see if some of my "pausing" problems vanish as well. Occasionally with the outlook news reader it'll just hang.

Soda,

It does, doesn't it :)

I wasn't really expecting any performance increases!

It could be one simple, little thing they changed. AMD support might be better. Chipset support might be better. IDE might be better.

Who knows ?

It isn't drastic, but I can notice it.

TechLarry,

Definately faster. I have a complete Intel system here. UI response is quicker, the video seems snappier, disk access, etc. The pause problems I was seeing in the news reader are completely gone... it seems to be connecting to the internet faster, everything.

Wow!
