I've always wondered why anyone would use hotmail considering the options available.
Being a long time Yahoo mail user, I find their service to be reliable (no lost messages), convenient, and fairly priced. I didn't mind paying $20 a year for 25MB, but now getting 2GB for the same price and with no advertisements or signature tags--what a deal! |

Hotmail is "excellent" in my experience. No spam, easy to use interface, and works nicely with Outlook and Outlook Express. The biggest downfall was the petty 2mb max. But that didn't matter when using Outlook/Outlook Express, which keeps the mail offline not restrictin the number of MB.
Now my Yahoo! account on the other hand was nice to have 6MB, and now 100MB is even better. But I will get 100MB worth of spam. My Yahoo! account is always just jam packed with spam, making it almost useless. Not to mention I can't get my Yahoo! mail in Outlook/Outlook Express. |

| People always talk about all the spam they get. I use my one Yahoo e-mail address for everything and with Yahoo mail's spam filtering I get about 1 to 3 spams per week. |

| I get between 40-100 spams per DAY with Yahoo! mail. It is absolutely pathetic. |

| Mike, my Yahoo! address has numbers, letters and the underscore symbol used throughout, and I have never used it for online ordering/etc. and it gets nailed. |

| I used to get around the same amount of spam as #10 and I got fed up with it and switched to Hotmail. I still have my Yahoo! Mail account and it STILL gets spam, even though I haven't used it in over 2 years! I doubt Hotmail will fade anytime soon, even if GMail turns out to be miles better. Why would you want instant notification #12? All you need is an account that lets you POP or IMAP the account, you'll get your mail instantly that way. |

I don't understand how I get spam into my Hotmail account.
I signed up for a Hotmail account about a month ago and before I had done anything with the account I was already getting spam. I had not even given my account out to my friends or sent an email yet and I was getting spam. That really pissed me off. |

Yahoo POPs! - http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/ #13 You can get your Gmail emails into Outlook/Outlook Express: (although it defeats the purpose of having Gmail since the major benefits of it are all accessed via the web interface). Pop Goes the Gmail - http://jaybe.org/info.htm I've got a Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail (used to collect spam and to sign up to things) accounts, and Hotmail is by far the worst of the lot. If anyone is curious, you can use both of the above programs together, you just have to bind one of them to a different port (and hence specify it in Outlook). |

| #22 They are more than likely busy adding in the rest of the features which are currently missing. But they keyboard shortcuts, labels, ability to view emails as conversation threads etc make Gmail fantastic to use even in it's current fairly limited state. |

Recieved a gmail invitation in my hotmail inbox 2 days ago, a mere 2 minutes after the invitation was sent. No problems at all!
Gmail rocks! The interface is SO much more intuitive than hotmail, and gmail is only in BETA! Im waving goodbye to hotmail....except for site sign ups. |
