It's good that Microsoft is showing 3rd parties how to integrate their applications closer to Microsoft products.

I thought new versions of VS tools for Office were going to be released with new versions of Office?

I guess not! I mean they could not have gone in the past and shipped it with Office XP. But what IS the next version of Office... Office XP is out now but does MS plan an incremental upgrade before Longhorn? I think right now MS is just trying to put all of their efforts behind Longhorn.

Well, they are just making one last step to release a set of products to occupy users and businesses while they work on future Software in the mean time.

The next version is probably going to be for the Mac, and then comes the Longhorn version I believe.

I think the next version of Office for Mac is coming in 2007, since Office 12 is coming in 2006. And Office for Mac always comes after the next version of Office.

I hope this is included with final version of Visual Studio 2005 and not only as a separate product.

Oh I see. So they are going to launch Office and Longhorn at the same time? No wonder there's a wait until 2006. I wonder if they're dedicating more effort to Longhorn or Office... I think MS should put everything on hold until Longhorn is perfect, honestly.
