Japan accuses Microsoft of monopoly | |

Japan's Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has issued a cease-and-desist order against Microsoft Corp, alleging that the United States software giant's restrictive licensing terms imposed on Japanese personal-computer (PC) manufacturers constituted anti-competitive behavior. The provision in question prevents PC makers from claiming patent rights to related technologies against Microsoft or other producers. Japan is the first to allege that the clause violates anti-monopoly law. |
