  Adobe Reader 7.0 Now Available
Time: 10:18 EST/15:18 GMT | News Source: CNET | Posted By: Chris Hedlund

The new version of this indispensable product doesn't introduce revolutionary changes, but it doesn't have to. As the low-end PDF reader, it simply keeps up with Acrobat Professional and Standard. This release adds the ability to play back embedded multimedia files in MP3, QuickTime, Macromedia Flash, Real, and Windows Media formats, as well as to submit Adobe PDF forms. It also replaces some of the icons in the default interface with optional, dockable toolbars. You might as well install this now before a Web site you visit prompts you to download it, because you'll need it.

Downloaders beware: Other software gets downloaded along with Abode Reader, but you have the option to install or not install it - so keep your eyes open!

DOWNLOADERS BEWARE. CHECK YOUR STARTUP FOLDER AFTER INSTALLING. It adds an item to your start up so that it launches faster. I removed that ASAP. Now it's slow again :P

Is it just me or has Adobe reader been getting more and more sluggish since 5.0?

It's not just you. I noticed a huge slowdown with version 5. In fact, Adobe released several version 5 updates addressing the performance issues among other things. Each version beginning with 5 has been getting progressively more bloated.
