Just a few minutes ago, we released the latest build of Windows Antispyware to the public. This build will resolve issues which will make using this product better for users. Starting today, Microsoft AntiSpyware users will start to see the automatic update mechanism fire off and advise users know they have a new update available.

Anyone,
Why should I use this when Norton works fine?

Because Norton sucks.
Seriously though, MS Antispyware works the best for me so far, not to mention that you should use more than one app for antispyware, as they all pick up different things.

#2 "Because Norton sucks."
And what blows?
"not to mention that you should use more than one app for antispyware"
But we've just had quux and all the other MS zealots defend the fact that keeping Windows spyware free is simple and doesn't require more than one app! Me, I'm with you, Spy Bot, AdAware and AntiSpyware have all one at least one occassion picked up something that the others missed.
#3 "norton have one that isn't bundled with NIS???"
Doesn't it come with Norton AntiVirus 2005?
"software firewall when i have a hardware firewall"
That's the best solution.

I actually thought quux was a hater, not a lover of msft. Damn, I cant keep all these folks straight.
quux, my anti-spyware ware never finds anything real. windows antispy, spybot, adaware, none of them. Its always the same cookies and msn messenger plus. But I feel the same way about antivirus. I haven't used antivirus software on my home pcs EVER. No problems.

#5 "No one ever answers"
I'll answer - Yes I can recall a time, it's not that hard after all given that MS AntiSpyware has only been around for a short while and to be completely honest with you I had never used Giant AntiSpyware before the logo was changed and a beta was slapped on it. But that's what happens when you let children use your computer - you learn very quickly to buy them their own computer which can be rebuilt quickly!
"virus/spyware the user"
Users these days download more spyware and trojans than any actual viruses, but you're right only through better education can we stop that - unless the field of spyware detection AI gets a lot better!
"pre-infected laptop"
Given that it's pre-infected I think the answer is rhetorical!

Anyone have their auto-update (or manual check for updates) do the refresh yet? The entire download is available from MS, but the refresh has not happened yet (Friday 10am EDT).

Quux...only one of them?
Neither of my two systems have done so as yet, even with a manual search for updates.
